Lobby Stairs

Lobby Stairs

The staircase leading to the lower lobby... everything here is pretty intact including the glass and light fixtures.. almost looks like it's still used.

Why does these shots make me think of "The Shining"?:P
......Come and play with us Danny, forever...and ever ....and ever....
Thirties handrails, Sixties lighting, Eighties partitions to the top of the stairwell. This place has had more facelifts over the years than Liz Taylor... and probably looks better :)
I don't know what it is about these winter resorts but in the 80s I trained in a resort with the same mixed-era look, although it was in the midwest..
Same stairwell as in SPLINTER-CELL. Still can't make it past that level.
Id take those lights too. Put all the lighting from the hotel in my condo
Heeeres Johnny!!!
i have a shot looking up at these from that landing.
all the fixtures in this building make you go errrr what the heck were they thinking?
Id pay for these light fixtures. They look way cooler than anything thats being made today. Heck the owners should have a sale, all you can take for $20 a car load
Those lights are beyond cool!! I'll bet they can be salvaged.
There probobly fine, it would be easy to re wire them if need be. The sad truth though, they'll most likely be destroyed should the hotel ever be torn down
I'll bet the light stealer will come back for these.
First the gyro-fans and now the light fixtures! I'm betting that the theives go back for the soap dispensers next. I hear that they go for big bucks on eBay.
Are there any plans for this resort; remodeling maybe, demolition? How about some condominiums? Isn't that what they normally do when a place is beyond repair?
You can get lights real similar to those in Ikea....my friend has one in her hallway. It cost her £14!
when its beyond repair, they usually turn it into staff housing--at least that's what it was like from 1980-82
i wish this place was still running
We used to sit at the bellhop desk and wager on the amount of people who would come tumbling down those stairs.
Wow, these pictures really bring back memories. Thank you, Motts, for posting these.
I stayed at The Pines for a week in 1996 for a family reunion when I was 6. Searching for the Pines online is how I found Opacity. Too bad the hotel closed.
Id buy those lights , its a shame their just gonna end up in a dumpster with some guard standing around it to make sure nobody gets nothin out of it.
Nothing of that is intact anymore, Kids destroyed it all playing paintball by the looks of it
Reminds me of "The Shining"
Great lobby! Love the hanging lights, circa 80's. I wish this place was still opened....it has a mysterious, haunting quality about it; like going back in time...
Indeed, this is all torn apart now, you can see some more recent pictures over at AbandonedNY that show what its like now.
Very 80s
JLP = Heavy, heavy sigh and big frown.
what a shame.
Thanks to a town official, all went to waste.
JLP-wants those lights....maybe motts doesnt know yet? should we tell him that?
