Etched

Latin words were etched into these steps to the altar and in many other places.

Any idea what they say, Motts?
I think I read "..ga sum in vades e.../ pious pro..."
It's Latin for" If you can read this you are too close."
Big ED.l...LOL....(I actually DID....:-)) (LOL, that is.....:-).....
The only words I can see completely are:
"Then in" (sum in) and "loyal" (pious)

If you'd gotten the whole thing, I could have translated...
darn you, motts.
I only do pig latin
pig latin is dead !!!!
what a beautiful chapel
Miss Gabriel would have been able to translate it...she was our Latin II teacher.
That's not "PIOUS". It seems to be "FIOUS", but I don't think Latin had any -ous endings, just -us. It's not a P, though; compare the P in the next word, "PROT...". I also think the "IN VADES" might be "IN CADES", but I don't know which if either of those are words in Latin.
The photo's are capturing history in the decline. Love your site!!!! I found it by the way of abandoned-places
