YAY!! First comment!! :-) :-) (OK, not much exciting is happening in my life right now :-* ....) Haven't been on here in a while; this is beautiful. Would've loved to have seen that place. Too bad it's gone. It breaks my heart to see such beautiful work go to waste under a bulldozer. I couldn't do it. Thanks for the pictures, though. At least we get to see these places this way. :-)
Missed ya, nvus!
Scary lookin' gate
Absolutely beautiful! Love the iron work in these old churches. Even churches now a days arent as beautiful as the old ones.
Such beauty should mean restoration by law!
So beautiful, I hope they managed to salvage some of it.
Don't make em like that no mo..
Anyone know what the P & A stand for?
The right side has both the Alpha (A) and Omega (Ω) symbols, which mean the beginning and the end. “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord” (Revelation 1:8).

The 'P' is most likely a Labarum.

Love the metalwork.
beautiful detail
it is gorgeous... but the middle of the gate, where the chainis, looks like a face, lol
Hey great to see some more of your work Motts...
That is a killer gate I love all the work that went in to it.
I love that gate!
Yes, on the right is the Alpha and Omega. On the left is a labarum...the Chi and Rho...the first two letters of the name of Christ. Looks like a P with an X crossing the bottom of the stem of the P.
Oh, thanks, Lynne. You too :-). Just been busy. Always have to come back, though, to see what new stuff was on here. Great as usual. I've told alot of people about this site, and now my MOM loves it :-). She's been a professional photograper for about 14 years now, and was impressed. Anyway, have a good turkey day, everybody!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful photo with us, Mister Motts!
Beautiful craftsmanship. Such a shame it's gone. Requiescat in pace.
Yes, on the right are the greek letters Alpha and Omega (comparable to A and Z) that basically means Jesus is the first and the last, beginning and the end.

The P and X are a common symbol meaning "Christos" or Christ. The first two greek letters for Christos are Chi (X) and Rho (P).
Just discovered this site. The photos bring back a host of memories - like sneaking thru those gates down to the crypt & sliding down the fire escape chute & kneeling on those really hard chapel kneelers - and much, much more. How sorry I am that everything has been razed.
we sing a song at summer camp, and the chorus goes like...
"You are the alpha, omega, beginning and end. You're my savior, messiah, redeemer and friend. You are my Prince of Peace, and I will live my life for you.."
now imagine kids of all ages jumping around in neon colors. behold the splendor of camp high harbor.
