I hope they stripped this place bare before it was torn down. It would be a shame to have wasted this amazing craftmanship.
Jumpin' Jehosephats! In color the striking craftsmanship of the wood jumps right out at you! Wouldn't you love to have one of these in your entrance hallway? Mike is right - if they didn't strip this place down it would be original sin.
If there was something spared by the fires of mindless destruction.
Oh God! Motts you know i love my wood work and you never fail! Looks like pine and oak! Oh rapture!
The wood, THE WOOD!!!
I hope there was something saved after the 2006 fire. What beautiful craftsmanship!
Reminds me of an old wooden ship from a pirate movie. Sweetness!
OMG I love the craftsmanship here, this is beautiful!
beautiful to look at....painful on the butt to sit in
how sad to me that places like this are lost forever due to carelessness and negligence. Such beautiful and spiritual artistry destroyed by idiots.... sigh. Thanks for this gallery motts
I was thinking the same thing Mike was thinking. I truly hope that they took everything out of here that they could. The workmanship is absolutely amazing and it would have been a shame for it to be destroyed.
Great pieces of art!....hey might show up on EvilBay some day if it was saved
WOW ! This looks like my church in France.
Very nice.
I would love to sit there... too bad it's gone...
It blows me away that a place like that remained abandoned. God himself must have been proud of this place and nobody ever attempted to revive this place?!

. This place was truly worthy of serving our Lord unlike these new Churches that are so boring and drab inside. If your building a church to praise God give him a building worthy of his praise.

A gift from the men of God went to waist. What a tragic shame
I Agree with Motts ,Wow !!!
Beautiful wood. What an amazing place beautiful wood and incredible stonework. Don't know how it could be let go; but, such a blessing that Motts captures this beauty to share before it's lost forever.
This whole gallery is amazing Motts. I agree with Lynne in hoping that they salvaged as much as possible from the place before it was demolished. I would kill to be able to get my hands on some of this stuff. The workmanship that went into everything in the place is fantastic, and the idea that it was just abandoned and neglected and most likely largely destroyed, makes me want to cry.
a little muphy s oil soap and lemon scent pledge would do wonders .
I work for a company in pennsylvania that builds only church furnature and fixtures. We've done several jobs that have had wood work like this but its expensive. Some churches will pay up to a half a million dollars for this kind of craftmanship
This is amazing. Time spared most of the detail. Well done!
that is beautiful. why don't they make things like this anymore??
Such beautiful shapes, colors, and textures and in one great shot! Thanks......
I had to go to a meeting at the Philadelphia School District 8 HQ when it was located there. The building was amazing. The wood work and staircases were beautiful. I now live nearby and frequent the park.
These were the Nun's "stalls". The students sat in the pews.
Behind these stalls was the visitors area. Parents etc. would come to view special events. As Cardinal Spellman walked up the center aisle in his long robes, my 4-year old brother whispered loudly, "Look Mom, that guy has no feet." The nuns sitting in those stalls had a hard time keeping straight faces.
LOL old grad!! You just made my night !
ESTUVE UN AÑO EN EDEN HALL , EN 1947,ASI QUE YA SE IMAGINARAN LOS RECUERDOS QUE ME TRJERON ESTAS FOTOGRAFIAS DE LA CAPILLA. LA BIBLITECA ERA HERMOSA TAMBIEN. QUE PENA QUE NO LAS PROTEGIERAN. ERAN UNAS JOYAS ARQUITECTONICAS QUE NO DEBIERON SER DESTRUIDAS.
YO SOY DE MEXICO Y VIVI MUY FELIZ EN EL COLEGIO.
