Apse

Apse

The apse had a strange rose coloring at the very top... the lighting in this area was odd in that sunlight only shone at the very bottom of the altar due to a blown out window on one side.

My earlier post about a fire may have been wrong then. Strange that the coloring on the ceiling would have been deliberate.
Reminds me a little of a snow globe.
She is so beauitful I can't stop crying that such a beatiful place that servered God and people is gone. And the skumwbag who condemed this building to death and abuses child is free to do what every he wants.
Words just cant describe it, how little we appreciate such things.
waiting to hear singing.....;-)great stuff

Exquisite shot, the altar is so beautiful!
The light looks almost as if a curtain is being drawn behind the camera.

To an ovation!
Wow!
The ceiling....whoa.
words just cant express the beauty and sadness...
Wow it looks like there is like something blue glowing in the center of the thing
Kristiara, you are so right !!!
JUST BREAKS MY HEART THAT ITS GONE
It was truly beautiful...we went to 7:00 Mass every morning...we lined up according to height and filed in, shortest first, so the shorter girls were always sitting up front and the taller ones supposedly could see over them, I guess. But at that hour and at that age, I'm afraid I didn't appreciate the beauty that was surrounding me. Thanks for these pictures...you've brought back many memories.
How could anybody condem such a stunning building hell how could some one tear down such a place....

Dollar+Greed+Wal-Mart=Satan
Dear God, the shot is absolutly incredible! This is so lovley Motts, you and your friends do good work.
dear god thank you for letting us see through motts eyes.way past awesome
Were any of the interior fixtures like the alters removed and preserved prior to demo. Sad shame if not. So beautiful.
And to think that it's all gone now. All that beauty.
I agree with V Vela, were any of these beautiful carvings, etc saved, I mean, even with a fire, those stone ornaments (probably marble altar) could have been rescued.
wow, I can't believe all of this is gone now....it's really sad, actually. they could have restored it all into something spectacular...
Majestic and awe inspiring and captured to perfection....
I am in no way a person to believe in God but churchs are so beautiful. I wonder why people condemn Churchs and such...
I graduated from Eden Hall in 1963. The entire school was a wonderful example of 19th century architecture. The chapel was particularly beautiful. It's a shame it could not be saved. Thank you for the pictures....
i live in this neighborhood were the chapel WAS located and i think it is a sin that its now gone it was a place to hang out with friends, not harming just a "chill spot" and now that there arent any back steps were i had my first kiss or the basement were u can go to keep cool i am upset. my favorite part about this picrture even know you cant tell u can go around the back of the alter thats what the two door holes on each side of the alter were for.
"it is ashame that something that was once so good now is so bad only to be tortured down by those of this day people like them should die"
