North Transept

North Transept

A wide angle view of the north transept... this was a small room on the side of the main corridor, which had an altar and very ornate stonework.

It looks like there was a fire a long time ago...
Excellent shot!
Of course, I was so excited about the new pics that I skipped over the part of your intro talking about the fire.
there were other fires inother buildings this was mostlys from age the candles and moistues etc. they were going to do restoration to get the building back into use.
What pretty patterns
Your not alone Mike! I didn't even read the intro or wait for the thumbnail index to load I just ran right in!

The stone work is incredible, imagine how much time it must have taken just to carve the alter. The true testament of the devotion of any religion's followers is in the loving deal that embodies their houses of worship. Love is in each carving, each piece.
Oh geeze, all that beauty...
love it, truly beautiful
Majestic.
How can someone just bulldoze over this kind of thing? :-(
Craftsmanship like that is hard to come by these days. It's a shame to loose what little is still left.
Wow, the detail and just the overall look of the stone is gorgeous!
The Gothic altar really looks centuries old. The building being bulldozed makes me sick.
Wowwww. Amazing.
This is breath-taking!
fantastic!
This is beautiful! The contrast is amazing.
WOW! Thank you Motts! I enjoy your photos so much
its so sad...
Sad to know that it is gone now.

But I glad to see what it was and thru these photos you can imagine how it looked back in the day.
I'm surprised no one has screamed Wallpaper!
MR MOTTS ,ITS A SHAME THAT THIS WAS DESTROYED.COULD THEY NOT HAVE BUILT ANOTHER CHAPEL AND USED THE EXISTING MATERIALS? IT JUST BOTHERS ME SO THAT WE CAN SO EASILY TAKE OUR HISTORY FOR GRANTED. THANK YOU MR.MOTTS FOR THESE WONDERFUL PICTURES
Really beautiful, it should have been saved.
Stunning shot. The contrast and lighting are just right... great piece!
Question, did they take all of these beautiful works of art out of the building before demolishing the building? Or did these all just get destroyed? I certainly hope not.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
Woah.
It makes me incredibly angry to know that art such as this is destroyed without guilt.
It's so sad that we have so little regard for history and beauty that we allow places like this to slip away. Thank you, Motts, for preserving these images.
wow good shot
Actually, this was the Lady chapel and it was beneath it that the Drexel relatives were originally buried.
la verdad es algo impresionante, cual es la historia tras esta iglesia tan hermosa, la cual fue demolida.
que ocurrio?
me encantaria saber, soy de chile y my correo es cory.sublime_retor@hotmail.com
It always amazes me that our culture can just knock these treasure down and not think anything of it. Its as if the intricate stonework and woodwork, craftmanship and hours put into creating these works of art mean nothing.
Absolutely beautiful.
These places are so special, all of us are lucky you've found your calling, Mr. Motts. You were meant to do this!!
Beautiful altar! You are truly a gifted artist Tom! : )
"Lady Chapel" indeed....Our Lady. super special place of meditation.
