Now THAT"S a place that needs a soap dispenser!
It sure makes me want to check my seat before I sit in a theater. :-)
Yeah, those soap dispensers on the ceiling don't seem to be doing a lot of good.

I'm guessing that's not bubble gum stuck to the seat.
Last flick to play there must have been Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds."
Ewwww
damn pigeons...
Is that a ladder in the background? Where does it lead?
I believe it leads to the projection room above the mezzanine.
hahahaha Good Lynne! The Birds it is!
...THERES SHIT EVERYWHERE!
Looks like the birds found a place to nest.
I really love this shot. All those disused seats stretching away.
Oh I like this one....those seats are kinda suspiscous looking though...
How did it SMELL in there? Like bird shit??? Well, probably.
it's not bird shit, it's toothpaste...

((random it's always sunny in philadelphia reference, there))
These shots remind me of that bit in 'Escape From New York', when Snake Plisken (Kurt Russell) finds 'Cabbie' (Ernest Borgnine) enjoying a shabby vaudeville performance with his fellow convicts in a decaying Broadway theatre lit by candlelight.
Surely the mezzanine area must have been for staff- there's no way they'd risk patients killing themselves jumping over the edge! It'd also be a good lookout point, to keep an eye on all that went on below.
i agree with birdy, those chairs have an intense presence
Yikes, how awful. Those are a lot of lonely chairs!
i dont like these pictures they scare me!!!!!!
HOLY CRAP!
This is a neat shot.
It looks like there is above last row of chairs near the ladder going up to ??? that there is a large image of the back of a large mans torso facing the ladder. Also behind him seems to be a large orb or circle cast of some kind. Was there someone here with you that would account for this appearing?
lynne, lol
Hey, you have birdie poo on your butt? Great line on a first date to the movies!
We used to sit in these chairs and rock back and forth due to reaction to medication. The staff would command us to stop it and laugh and say we were just complaining over nothing but thanks to our fearless leader we shall finally have retribution. Next meeting on 2/25/2009 K.P.P.C. 1 Bluff 2 overhead 138. This is a mandatory meeting and will be voting.
Why does it look like this?!
The engineering firm I work for just got a job doing some sort of inspections there. The people on the job need respirator training, confined space entry training, and physicals prior to entry!
I am one of the engineers who went in. Full Tyvek suits, reporators and masks. We were in the basement in hatchways under the floor, under the stage, and between the roof/ceiling. The laddar there does go up to a projection room. There were lines on the floor of the main section beneith the bird crap for basketball/volleyball.
So interesting! Very glad that you can be a part of restoring this place Mike!
