What where these basins used for?
Those are pretty cool, I wonder what they were for too.
Is it a washroom?
could be a washroom, Nik.
Them are pretty sweet, remind me of tables. Just toss a decent top on them, and you are ready to eat.
How high did these sit off the floor, Motts? Its hard to tell from the pic... about 3ft?
Yes they are wash basins, they stand about 3-4 ft. off the floor.
These are similar to what my sister has in her art classroom. Several people can get around them at once. Some of them have a center tower that sprays water down ~
whats in the wash basins? Is that paint or part of the celing?
I love these. They would make great planters!
We had these at my elementary school too. what is missing is the center column that has the spray heads. Ours were activiated by a ring around the base that you stepped on, but these don't look like they would have used that.
They are called Bradley Sinks. They usually have a tower in the middle and a large hoop like peddle around it you step on to run the water.
Wow, those are strange looking objects.
they still have these things at my son's high school. the ones i saw were in the auditorium, which was added on after 1960.
Are they on a table or the floor? That looks like a door in the background.
These are cool. They must of made things much easier.
i was gonna say they look like giant bird baths ><
I had one of these in my old high school girl's room LOL
It worked too!!

/ me= age 29
Now where did I put that soap dispenser at????? LOL
It's another one of those Bradley creations...those guys made their monies worth. I just saw pictures of a funeral home with the same wash basins in the morgue area...kinda creepy.
We used basins like this in my Elementary School to wash our hands. Now THAT gives me the creeps...
