Slab Tub

Slab Tub

Almost every floor had a hydrotherapy station, with two slab tubs on either side.

Why the slab tub?
Isn't that for washing cadavers?
Those old porcelain slab tubs would be so nice to have in a garden.
It does look like an autopsy table, but these shallow tubs were used to give patients sponge baths and things of that nature.
Mr. Motts is right.
It is funny how I had forgotten that people would think a slab tub was exclusively used as a morgue table until you showed one of these in an earlier gallery several years back and received so many comments. It helps remind those of us in the field how odd our "normal" world is to outsiders.
I still say it would make a great fish cleaning table.
Wow, there's something so powerful about this shot--the yellow walls, the slab tub and then the sunlight fighting to get through the boarded up window...
what is that thing on the wall?
Oh come on, I cant believe nobody jumped on that! God! It's obviously the "soup dispenser"...LOL couldn't resist!
asdjklgasj.

the word hydrotherapy make me squirm.
Thats actually a sink that has a flusher on it. I have seen it in hospitals. I am not too sure what the name is though.
the sink on the wall is for cleaning bed pans. you put the bed pan in it & flushed - the water was extremely hot to sterilize it & the bed pan was clean for the next use.
The sink with the flusher handle is called a 'hopper'.. Ahh, all the terms you get use to when you step into the medical field!
Great pics as always Motts!
This room looks relatively more modern then the others.
i been working in hospitals and nursing homes for over 20 years, never heard of the term "hopper" for the the bedpan sanitizer.
what's that machine on the left??
your right about that bed pan cleaner!! they have them in older nursing homes!
the slab tub looks new
A hopper and a bedpan sanitizer are two different things! A hopper is a big sink with flushing capabilities--I've never seen a fold up version before...
i seen some of these slab tubs boken and then seen ghost when my friends took pictuers. and one had and sperit of a baby ghost u can c the body and all
i seen them broken in one of the buildings
