Motts, I know of 2 more Drivins you could go see rt 146 sutton mass and rt 20 shewsbury mass ( Edgemere Drive-in)
Of course, I don't want to forget the Red Rock drivein in Deerfield, where many good times took place.
there was an old abandoned drive in close to my house that was closed for years, but they reopened it in july.
Wow that is a really good shot!
I love how he captures the scope of an object. Beautiful!
Just a thot. Remember going to the drive in one night with a friend in the trunk with myself and two or three dudies in the car. We made it in no problem. After the show, and a wonderful movie it was, hotroded out of the the place and took a curve too fast and turned my friends car upside down. Damn, his daddy was pissed, and it was really a fine black DeSoto that his dad used at his funeral home. He got into some big trouble, but what hell, we didn't give a big diddly. I think back, and I say Johnny, good grief, I could have done better for a friend. But then again, I was a miscreant and a relative loser so that never happened. Drivin's, just another venue for a misspent youth, but I wouldn't trade it for a million. Love you Mott's, your the best.
I check back to your sight periodically to see what's new (found this because of the Danvers deal - my husband sold the windows to Avalon for the project; we are both kinda creeped out by the whole thing) I loved the defunct amusement park in RI (been there) and really enjoyed the abandoned motel in upstate NY - yuck! But seeing this picture made me gasp. A piece of my past has been destroyed...razed. Why couldn't it have been my crappy high school instead????
Did you know Mott that Dick Buzzell had been in the theater business since 1935, when he ran a vaudeville theater. And in case you hadn't noticed the goodbye Mr. B painted on the back of the screen. That was painted by the 5 remaining employees of which my sister was one :)
I agree Caroline The high school would have been a better choice
Very cool. I happen to live about 10 minutes from that site (it's now gone), and never actually saw it from the front. Excellent shots!
there was one in Leicester, Mass. Now its a Super Wal-Mart. (I think)
Wow, I can remember going there as a kid to see Snow White on the big screen. It's odd to see it in decay. To bad it's gone now..
what is it now
just imagine all the first kisses that happened here. or all the young couples that walked by this lamp holding hands.
First kisses? Imagine all the babies conceived here!
That's sad. I've been to the Edgemere Drive-In (Shrewsbury) and it's such a sad sight =( i hate when these places are abandoned.
