Used to move tourists on a cable car.
They were originally used to haul coal carts.
Very quite.
Very low RPMs and loads of torque.
My vacuum cleaner makes more noise.
Dig that hand-wheel coming out at an angle from the housing,there.
Guitorman that wheel is a manual brake to lock down the whole assembly.

JT do you have a link to where you saw two of these big electric motors running ? Or what museum or city is it in?
