Taking Note

Above the refrigerators is a sign that reads, "When placing the body in the fridge please write details on the board."

I don't know why, but calling it "the fridge" made me giggle a little....
I agree, seems like they would use another word than "fridge" in England.
Grand sign - glad you thought to take a pic!
Haha, in my New York neighborhood, it would be called "icebox"
Kinda cold, (excuse the pun) and matter of fact.
No one likes to be suprised by an unknown body in the fridge!
I fugure i'll be around for another 60 years or so...so I hope we come up with a better and more private sign :-) LIKE WITH A NAME THANKS!
This sign is just too casual.

Brutally honest and almost depressing.
"Motts can you get the body out of the fridge he's right beside the milk."
You are right Joseph, seems like they are just posting a letter!
Thank you for responding Jason.
This job is quite serious and they seemed to treat it as an order for pizza.

Well, when one deals with death daily a little humor probably goes a long way towards retaining your sanity. I mean, in a job like that you are smacked in the face with your own mortality every day. We all do what we can to improve our situations.
wow.
canada.
thats was hilarious but i agree.
the sign is wayy to casual.
they should at least call it the refridgerator.
geez.
good place for bodies and beer and beef
You guys need to relax. Why bullshit it up when it means the same thing either way?
Kristiara is right....

My best friends dad is a forensic pathologist & does autopsie's for a living. He has often told me that if you don't make jokes sometimes that you simply wouldn't make it through some days. It's never meant to be disrespectful to the departed or their families. It's just how you cope sometimes with staring death in the face all the time.
I work in a hospital. One MUST have a sense of humor or you go crazy. Also, I don't think it was meant to be funny or crude. It just is what it is.. a body and a fridge. It isn't like the corpse sees it and I doubt families ever went in there, it isn't like a funeral home that needs to be sensetive to those things. It is the back guts of a hospital where only staff goes.
And even tho I have been in the States for a good number of years, us Brits call it the fridge...Just like we call it the "hoover" and not the vacuum (UGH Bloody spelling)
The words "fridge" doesn't seem strange to me, but the use of the word "body" here does. Its almost like they're storing the corpses for dinner or something.
This one gave me a crick in the neck.....!
I can see the practical jokes like a co-worker standing in one and screaming "Surprise" when someone opened the door. *chuckles* ahhh, good times.
Where there any leftovers.
A Vampire Hangout
i guess to make sure the don't walk away!!!!!!
What's funny about fridge?!
It's what we say over here :)
That's us Brit's for you. The glass is'nt half full or empty. It's just a glass. Anyway, amazing pictures! Wish I had such talent :)

Question: What is the last letter of the word "hospital"?
