Wow that really does look like it could be a set in one of those Mad Max type movies.
it really must have been a wealthy school at one time.....you would never see perspective or balance lkie this in a new building .....
The guy with the patch on his eye is really a walking god hero, but the other one looks like a supernatural wierdo
please forgive my ignorance but: Why do they call them bleachers?....i'm australian and we just call 'em seats...but then again we only really have two big stadiums per city....the rest of the time we watch AFL from the sidelines while sitting on eskies full of VB
Something you wouldn't wish to sit upon.
It seems that "eskies full of VB" are what we may call can/bottle coolers (eskies) and VB I think would be a brand of drink...beer possibly.

Ok, so VB stands for Victoria Bitter and it is a type of beer from Australia.

I think that what Live wrote, "sitting on eskies full of VB" was supposed to be "sipping on eskies full of VB." Otherwise, I don't know what's going on Down Under but, then again...do I want to know?!?! LoL! ;0)
aaaaaahhh...thanks for the links Lynne, i can sleep now :) "eskies full of VB" means a cooler full of victoria bitter...one of the foulest of australian beers generally associated with vagrants, low-lives and the unemployed. I'm always available to decipher any other aussie slang so, fire away :)
I tried VB once. Not twice, though.
LoL! And that says it all! :0)
Hebridean Al, you did you body the biggest favour you could do...by not trying it twice
There's a lot of graffiti for sure.
This was a great place with a lot of history. I would like to see pictures of the locker, training, coaches and referees rooms. the entrance from the locker room to the field would be a great shot. Just imagine the ghost that roam here.
The lines are still on the field because this stadium has astroturf (or what is left of it). I saw another photo on the web and it shows the turf coming up.
Worked here in 1947 as a peanut vendor during midget auto races...remember other events as well, such as the "Paterson Panthers" semi-pro football team games coached by Ali Sherman, who later became head coach of the New York Giants, and a farewell appearance tour by Babe Ruth, who hit some soft balls out into the stands . He was dying of cancer at the time. I remember getting to the stadium by bus from Totowa, where I lived.. I could hear the midget racers (especially the outboard powered ones) from my house on Union Boulavard on hot summer nights . Seling in the stands on a good night you could make as much as 15$. Good memories. Sad to see what has happened to the place. Incidentally, the school building didn't exist in 1947.
Goood Eeevening.........My name is Alfred Hinchcliffe..................................
Who the hell is the man with the cane???!!!, but nice to meet you.
Haha Motts nice one
people who do graffiti should have their arms removed. now that would be a fun night at the stadium.
oookay then......cool?!
MOTTS?!
