gee, someone tried to be silly or scary with the spray paint out line of a body on the floor, to the left
this body lines m8 have meant to symbolize the souls who died here.
There is another outline to the right, a bit up further. Also, it kinda looks like tennis court lines painted on the floor......?
It probably was one of those theatres that used lots of folding chairs. Often you could store them under the stage. There are probably holes in the floor to put the posts to hold the net up. The Gymnasium in my old high school also doubled as the auditorium at one point, but the stage had been boarded up and turned into a storage room by the time I got there.
Bet it was sweet in its day.
look at all that wood paneling. that was all done by hand!
Used to work here when the hall was THE hub of the hospital. Had dances, films, pantomimes etc. It was a great meeting place for all the patients ro come and have tea, coffee etc. What a waste!
Wow, madnic, thats neat that you used to work there. I love that panneling as well!
wow another amazing shot motts
Now opening for Ozzy Osbourne, With Vengence.
Looks just like my primary school hall. Ours was smaller, but the floor and the panelling look practically identical.
I kind's hope the body trace is that A-hole who threw the chair at the stained glass window...
Apparently two of the Octopus Men were murdered here.
Ah, the picture that would beckon me to your site. Lovely.
found a bra in there i did
When i visited this room in the pitch black there were orbs everywhere.
and we asked if anyone was there and one of the ceiling lights dropped to the floor and shattered.
it was rather terrifying.
the white lines painted on the floor were used for badminton. On Friday afternoons, there was usually a movie shown, other times during the day it was used for dances and patient socialising/occupational therapy, mainly for long stay patients.
hi love the site!!!! i have visited people at cherry over the years and had a peek in here myself happy that this has been captured on camera before it gets demolished x
I remember there was a charity day once and they had an auction in that room for the visitors.
What no one had figured on, was the patients shouting bids out.
As you can imagine it was difficult for the auctioneer.
I remember the hall as a child in the 60s. My dad was a nurse at cherry and there was a xmas party for the staff children - food, santa, film, presents that sort of thing!

They also used to have a firework party on Nov 5th
Some as' hole has ripped it down. This used to be set for a play it still had a back drop down
I still LOVE wainscoting!
