What beautiful buildings. I wish they could build like that now...
What a beautiful spot....... and the sunshine just added to it so much.
Decidedly odd - I quite like it!
I see the windows in the main building are intact and look new.
Decidedly odd--best way to say it Lynn and I like it too.

Hi Janice! Told you I'd be here to check this out. :-)
Being a "newbie" to this sort of thing, I could be wrong but; It seems as though there is less vandalism in these pictures than I am accustomed to seeing in pictures of buildings from our side of the pond, (USA). Is there a different attitude in Britain, better security, or is this an isolated situation?
There could be a few factors... perhaps most of the closures of institutions happened later in England than over in America, giving the buildings more time to be vandalized.

Many places in the US were not protected in the early years; exploring back in 1995 was much much different than after the millennium... Danvers State Hospital was just sitting on that hill with no boards on the windows and no security for a good while!

The security in England seemed much more lax in terms of repercussions though. When I got busted by a guard and his K-9 in England there was no questioning or ticket; in the US a place with that level of security, a criminal trespass would have been issued at the very least.

England has it's share of trashed places. Look at all the burned buildings at St Margaret's. An upcoming gallery of Normansfield Hospital will show a lot of vandalism, and Hellingly had a good amount as well, I didn't shoot much of it because it was quite ugly :-)
Shawshank Redemption?
Very beautiful brickwork, a shame its being redeveloped.
breathtaking!
i woz there the other night...coldnt get past that wall an into the main part...its all been borded up!
Motts, It's is quite curious since I have'nt been to England yet. As far as I have seen media wise that many parts of England are clean, even cleaner then the streets and city's of the U.S. My family, the Noble's who are from Berkshire came to the colonies in the early 1600's have never given any indication angst against England, even durring the revolution in which they fought for freedom from our mother country. Is their any chance of showing the audience here the blight of England as a project idea?
My dad chucked a rubber ball for my dog and unfortunately it flew through one of the windows. If you ever go again, could you get it back for us? :)
this is definately ward 12 taken from ward 11. the low roof just below the treeline is the laundry
motts
