EEWWW... N-A-A-A-A-S-T-Y-Y-Y-Y
What is that long thing next to it? Looks kinda like a knife bent out of shape...

And that tile....wow!
A little heroin for YOU, a little birthday cake for ME....
That carpet is gross, aint it...I wonder if there is a wood floor under that ugleee thing?
looks like a bread Knife, Hi Lynne:-) Ed from Oregon
drugs are bad mmk
Is that a soda can by the table leg?
looks like a can of diet pepsi by the table leg!
and a big nasty bread knife on the table.
Wow.. to think there are still needles in that place after all these years.... unless.... junkies are coming in on the regular to use?... either way - this pic is crazy!
What interesting floor tile!!
I thought junkies used the thin needles over here? as they are prescribed them by the NHS...*sigh*

maybe the knife was for protection from security or something...but they forgot it as they wondered off into the dark hallways...
This is why I'd want other people and a base ball bat with me if I was exploring these places.
That needle could have been left over from the hospital or it could have been used by a junkie who is using the old place as his new house and wouldn't be very happy about explorers coming around.
ahhh I can hear it now...."hey guys lets go shoot up at the insane asylum" "Ok I will bring the bread knife, you bring the giant needles, and you bring the Pepsi"
sounds like you've done this before, Joe...
wonder why the knife is there & why/how it is bent like that? the syringe isn't really that big, the needle either. it's a 3cc or 5cc & those usually have anywhere from a 21-25g needle.
unless you hook up your own. (i work in a dr's office) i would think junkies would use small needles to lessen track marks & make it easier to fnd a vein.
-mink-
that looks like a 5cc syringe, never a good thing to find those just laying around. looks like a 25gauge 1 1/2 inch needle with it. Who ever used it was digging deep......ouch!
Love the needels place like this (if your tetanus is OK, and you would not have to touch them).
Some girl told me terrifying story about junkies in an old abattoir. They went in the abattoir, and they had nothing but cellphones offering very little light(and a camera). There was a long hallway, with many doors, and they took a picture from every dark room because they could not see. They took picture again from one of the rooms, and in the picture, was two people, other standing and other lying in ground. They ran like hell. These people were propably junkies, scary, huh?
Unfortunately I never got to visit there, because the abattoir was destroyed, and now, it has a apartment house instead. Excuse me the misspellingsand slumbering, Im from Finland.
Definitely good advice is bring a friend or bat to explore - I did sec. at one of the site and I can't tell you how many drug addicts I had to get out the bldgs with the police- that was usually the worst- there were always needles..
and I never got the idea of why get high at a spooky place..but it's abandoned they go there
What a strange group of items.
INJECT THE VENOM AND THEN DRAIN IT OUT.
most junkies would keep their needle. they can be hard to come by, and observe the color of the syringe. it's old.
It's an Irn Bru can, not Pepsi.
Drugs screw your brain up.
Time for your weekly depot.
in LA, junkies are allowed to just go in 5 star hotel bathrooms and shoot up.
EWWW that is soo gross....needles scare me...especially old used dirty ones.. blecch
Heroin, Pepsi, Bread Knife - all the food groups.
Never mind being freaked out by iron lungs etc, Mott's running the gauntlet between falling through rotten floorboards into a stinking cesspit of stagnant water, catching T.B., or getting whacked by a group of surprised junkies off their faces on god-knows-what !!

Since when did photography become an extreme sport??
The way the chips on the floor and the contrasting light look almost make it appear as if this rooms full of water. It might just be me too...
Eww, Irn Bru. They must have been *really* high.
Oh God. I looooathe shots!!!
Makes me wanna go *shoot some heroin in my eye*, (j/k) a Pepsi can, LOL, odd knife, and wow awesome tiles! or is that carpeting?
All that lead paint you must be sniffing in these old places, you sure have taken some incredible pics. You have my dream job, would luv to be in your shoes.
well if that was a set of works for some junkie, then the can of pepsi or whatever it is would make sense. and the knife. They would need the bottom of the alumminum can to cook up the dope and they probably used the knife to cut the bottom of the can. and once a junkie gets off trust me that u wouldn't have too much to worry about. Most cannot even stand up straight. They would b drooling all over themselves.
This photo looks really creep
the last thing you need in an asylum, a knife !! eep!
that needle looks farly new compared to the bloody serringe we found in the old haunted hospitle
I remember giving Depixol but crikey look at that floor!.
If the hospital was built in the 1800's I doubt very much thats the same kind of needle they used then. They used syringes which were more metal. That looks like a syringe a doctor would use, in the last 5 years or so. So most likely Junkie. It was left in a relevant building though, I give them that!
mm steak knife lol
hmm would u like some butter with your drugs? it will stimulate the efects.....*dodgey silence*
Heroine? Bad for health. This picture is intereting, everything is decaying, & then there's 4 rando m items. Coke can, the knife, the seat & the needle that is obvioulsy new. You're a great photogapher.
Dudes seriously is there likely to b junkies there? a few of us r goin tonight n as scary as that place is im sure throwing a couple of smack heads in there might jus make it that lil more freaky?????
I'm sure I've seen that design of carpet before.
the needles are still there... and the floors fucked so we cudnt walk in and see how many more there were :(
If it is junkies, they be at the right place to trip. Probably they be tripping and maybe they even can feel at home here. Who in their right mind want to take drugs in an old abandoned psych hospital ? Gee!
HIV and a bread knife
A user would prefer the finest guage available.
Dont worry about the junkies. I'm sure they're just as afraid of you as you are of them ;) Like previous guy said, odds are they're slumped out on the nod somewhere. I wouldn't being any money or valuables if I were you though. A baseball bat or spiked club should be sufficient to discourage them. GREAT work, btw. Your photography of ruins like this is some of the best I've seen.
its bull
i personally love needles... and no i do not do drugs... but i love medical devices and what not... i would say that the thing on the right of the table may be an old bread knife.
Bin there frm the uk, that can by the table leg is actually iron brew !! :)
Thats mingin, smack heads leaving their dirty needles liying about like that. Im not sure if its meant to be an untouched shot but theres an irn bru can on the floor!!!
creepy
Is this in that house? the one with the steps up the side? I found a camping stove in there, i thought some tramps were staying, apparently I was right...
Yikes, that's a big needle.
Don't know much about the needle, but the knife is used to section internal organs during autopsy.
it actually looks more like irn bru, but dont hold me to it :)
i wonder what its like now :) i'm gonna go visit :P
Actually the syringe isn't that old a lot of them are color coded by the manufacturer based on size in cc's. The greater worry from needles is probably Hep C more than anything else and a lot of junkies use in secluded places for various reasons. Drug culture is something I have grown up with and for better or worse there is a specific mentality that comes with it that can be very disturbing and hard to understand in the greater community. If you see burned soda can halves laying around along with the needles, than it is time to really worry.
