I'm not calling all staff abusive mind you (from the opening paragraph about this place the nurses in training sounded like very kind and caring people) just some.

Motts put it up on the front page of this gallery. There's some very interesting and comprehensive info there about the hospital's history. There are also some neat pictures. I think you'll find the stories there enlightening - I did. While the hospital's past is checkered, it seems that there were a committed few who really strove to make it a pleasant place for troubled people. It's a shame that it didn't work out.
Here, check this out, it's all about this really cool old hospital called EMS. It was torn down in the early 90s but this sight is run by a guy who used to hang out there in the 80s and loved it there.

I'm just posting this here because the plant growth in this hospital kind of reminded me of EMS.
Happy holidays!
there were no laws then protect women back then from abuse in any form, especially spousal abuse. As you can see the walls do not lie. Even to this day, they weep for the women that had been there.
wards 3,4,S(8) 16, 11 and 12 were 3 storey wards the rest, , 6,7, 14, and 15 were 2 storey. there were another 3 hospitals on site as well as this one, st lukes, so the numbering actually went up to ward 46.
It's sad to see it in disrepair and abandonment. I too remember the staff dances at the ballroom.......
