Mossy Halls

Mossy Halls

The archways and skylights in all the connecting corridors gave them beautiful natural lighting and an ornate look.

The lighting is beautiful in this!
Those archways are gorgeous...natural lighting is the best.
I hope they're not going to renovate this into some kind of antiseptic tube. What beautiful colors. Even the colors of decay are beautiful in this photo.
Motts I love this hallway shot! The lighting and the red doors at the end just make it pop!
Wow, I love this shot! Very cool with the arches and the angles.
Prettiness. Must've been lovely when it was open and not quite so "natural"
What a beautiful hallway. The arches are just gorgeous.
These halls look very diffrent..
I can just imagine those black doors on the left slamming when you are all alone! Make you jump out of your shorts!
Amazing photograph I love the red detail on the arches. Suprising theres no graffiti and the glass is intact!
I wonder what that shelf way up on the first arch was for? It also looks like a fake plant is still hanging on the wall. This was a rare find indeed. No graffiti or vandalism.
The moss just adds to ornate look of the arches. Just goes to show you that no matter how beautiful an object man can make...nature can do it better. =)
beautiful!
Hope they keep the arches and the skylights when and if they really do renovate! Great shot of this hallway!
Hey, Joy, I think that's actually a REAL plant there on the wall. Check out the ferns growing all over this place in a lot of the photos - especially in the hallways. That is a curious little shelf up there, isn't it? I never noticed it till you pointed it out. It looks kind of utilitarian, and it doesn't match the colors of the walls at all, so it couldn't be decorative... hhhmmmm...
i love this picture it is so beautiful I wonder what it looked like when it was new. A bright place for a gloomy disorder I'm glad that they are reuseing the building.
motts you have a way with the long hallway shots. they are amazing and very eerie at the same time.
Kudos<3
Thanks for the shot!
omg i love this picture - The angles are totally fab!
It looks as if someone is standing on the other side of the skylight.
I love these pictures I can just imagine walking down the hallways going to give afterneen meds or something....
The green moss does add a great accent of a complementry color to the red.
ive walked down this corridor many times!! the dooorway on the left is the entrance to the kitchen and potwash area, as you can see the rails on the wall to stop the trolleys of food fram damaging the plaster, opposite this doorway is the entrance to the ballroom.
and the red doors at the end led down a ramp into the old wards 1 and 2 which were known as the langdale unit, the only truly secure ward there when i worked at whittingham, between 84 and 95.
It looks so modern.
thanks so much motts for letting us see all this amazing stuff.loooooooove it all
I think the "shelf" you see up there is actually part of an emergency lighting system. The system is powered by standard AC power and in the event of an outage the batteries power lights..

Very cool shot Motts!
This hallway has a very "chapel" feel to it!
Actually kinda nice.
This corridor is right next to the chapel and theatre, the red doors led to a Ward.
On the Right hand Side before the ward was the central Nursing Office
It's a propper bag o wank
Dangerous tor un with someone on your shoulders in this place, unless of course you don't like them, then it is just fun.
What a gorgeous hallway!
soap despencer joy .
I love this...another great hallway shot! The light coming from the skylights is amazing.
