Love the texture and depth of field in this one.
BEAUTIFUL! IS THAT SOME KIND OF MARBLE?
Yep, they just don't make them like this anymore =(

Great angle.
Hey, is that pillar stone, Motts? I just thought at first that it was a wooden pillar that had once been white but is now coated with layers of artistically patterned grime (if that's grime, then it's AMAZINGLY artistically patterned!). But Java makes me think that it might be some kind of stone... can't tell for sure from the pic. Whichever it is, it's an awesome shot! Motts, your angles are fantastic!
Love that angle...the contrasting colors too...not to mentionm that, that is one awesome column....
Wow, a stunning shot Motts. I love all the colours and textures going on in the ceiling!
The white pillar against the slimy decay - stunning
Absolutely gorgeous!
Nice shot. it looks to me like its just dirt on the pillar that has had tracks made in it by water running rown it.....looks damned good.
I believe it is stone, unlike the larger columns in the previous photo which seemed to be made of metal if I remember correctly.
So pretty, the detail of this.
For some reason I can't stop staring at this picture. It's beautiful.
hmm. looks doric
gorgeous architecture!
Beautiful!
This is actually a Tuscan order column, Yaggy... Just one of the useless tidbits of information I have floating around up there in my noggin...
The colours and textures are great, but the overall composition is excellent too--the placement of the column, the contrast between the bottom and the top, and the way the column not only dominates but unifies it.

[sorry...former art student here...]

Motts, are you pretty free with cropping, or do you mostly leave the images as is?
Thanks Frida! I wind up cropping/straightening about 40% of my photos... I try to get it right the first time but I'm usually a little off especially when the camera is at an height that is uncomfortable to look through the viewfinder.
Its a crime that they left these buildings rot, just a while ago, they destroyed near my hometown beautiful old buildings, and built there more grey and dull boxes . :,( I know that keepin those are expesive, but wouldent it be worth it?
Beautiful shot, Motts. I wish I had your eye for composing shots.
I believe that it is marble either carrera, or volakas, one of the white marbles for sure. there is so much work involved in the edge detail and cutting of stone. It is beautiful!
Nice to see the old place again.
The photography is amazing. The place itself is stunning, but wow. These pictures.
I don't think it's marble. It looks like smoke damage. That's what everything looked like after out house burned down.
ah thought it was a streak of light before I enlarged the photo
that is cool looking!!!
wow...this place in just incredible! I find it so sad that all of these amazing places are just left to rot!
