Silver

Looking at this aerial photo, it seems as if all the ancillary buildings have been torn down, leaving behind a field of rubble and some deep mud that we tried not to sink into. The hole on the lower right seemed to once be a connection to the modern complex.

if they called this building plain, I'd love to see what they call ornate! this place makes a lot of hospitals I know look like cardboard boxes!
You've got to remember, what we would consider beutiful architecture nowadays was taken for granted back in the day. That was just the way you put buldings together. No one would have thought anything of it. I think most people that lived and breathed in the days when that sort of architecture was considered "plain" would be horrified by the boxes we work in nowadays.
Looks like an old postcard.
Stunning.
I love the clock tower. How many stories high was it?? Did you get in it?? I hhope so.
Motts is correct. The modern complex was indeed connected here. Google earth still shows it.
strange how that's just chillin in the middle of a highway ramp...makes me think it's a really easy going place..hah
Hospital? Looks like a Gothic-style church.
Reminds me so much of a church. Really breath taking!
I agree with Nathan. There is a bit of a decention within the ornateness in styles though generations. From the Gothic revial here to Edwardian art nouveaux then after the Victorian era. Then on to art deco over to futuristic 60's mod, plastic fake disco from the seventies, geometic neon eighties, gold chained ninties to the bling-bling millenium. Yeehh... the taste in class as was displayed over one hundred years ago unfortnately is the primeval thing here in the 2000's.
