Out of Reach

Out of Reach

It was difficult to see the top level caskets without the aid of a ladder. I wondered what details were up there that I wasn't able to see...

interesting pic, leaves a lot to the imagination about what it looks like up there.
A long pole with a mirror at the end would do the trick! Wonderful pictures, as usual!
Love the black and white. It really brings out the texture. Awesome as always
Occaisionally, if I cannot reach something I need to take a picture of I place the camera on a tripod with the legs closed but fully extended and then lift the tripod overheard after setting and tripping the timer.

...would that have worked for you or were you there without a tripod??
Nah, I needed to have at least a few seconds of exposure time as the place was very dim... most niches needed a flashlight to be shot at all.
Notice above the casket. Above the middle stone, it looks like a face. You can see the nose, lips, and eyes.
is this a family plot?
That wall is awesome. It looks like the stone is being eaten away by something.
Ah, wonderfully moody.
This one evolks a nostalgic sense of one of those old Mexican vampire films that I used to watch with my parents every Friday night on our local Fright Night Late Show like THE WORLD OF VAMPIRES, the NOSTRADAMUS series & of course, THE VAMPIRE'S COFFIN.
They were filmed on micro-budgets & didn't have the best acting performances or directing, but DAMN did they make up for it in atmosphere. Just like this shot does...
I'm seeing the masonry. It's something you hardly see anymore. I've been in some crypts here in the U.S. They can't compare to this. No way. Do you know what era this was built in????? Makes me think about the people who built it.
No, I don't have an idea about the date... the earliest internments dated around the 1700's, although there could have been earlier dates on the top level caskets or ones without plaques. I would assume the crypt to be built around this time, but they could have been moved at any point.
This is really eerie; but so fascinating!
I kick myself for being a coward, had I been in your shoes, I would have only gotten exterior shots, but you are one brave soul and I thank you for it, again.
wow..this is a realy interesting picture...i wonder what it looks like up there??
I think I can just make out the points of another crown up there.
Do the crowns mean that these people were part of the Royal Family?
Digitally adding a ghost in this picture would of been great!
Glad you pointed that out; I thought this shot was "down-there"
Looks pretty old-the wood is rotting apart, and yeah, it does look like there is one of the metal crowns there.
you have great captions for your photos which you take very well. And i have to admit you have real guts going to the places that you do
Caption proposal-

"Keep out of reach of children"
