Aha, I've been waiting for this gallery. I've memorized all the preview photos that were on the front page and now I get to play I Spy with them in the new galleries. :)
This picture is one of my favorites! Wallpaper please?
I agree with Grant...Breathtaking!
THIS has also been one of my favorite pics ever since Motts had those teaser pics of his trip put up on his main page!
I would have been so tempted to try this on.
Whoa....THAT is one absolutely COOL crown......Did you look INSIDE???
Ladyhawke, darlin', I KNOW you wouldn't have done that - we've both seen FAR too many grade B movies where the person puts the dead person's crown on top of their head and it gets shoved in with metal spikes. =8-o
Antonio, my little ravioli of love,

Are you out of your cottonpicking mind?!?!?!?!?! Why on God's green earth would he go and do something like that after all the bad horror flicks that are out there? Why, he would've been eaten by the creature in the casket and disappeared, and we'd end up seeing him on a late night movie someday, after spending years wondering where he went. =8-o
I love the dusty cobwebs hanging from the coffin, very fitting.
LYNNE!!!! ALWAYS enjoy your comments! lol

Motts--This is the gallery Ive been waiting for ! This is fantastic!
I can't wait to die
Well not really but i'm getting all these awesome ideas for my funeral.
I spy with my little eye..something from the main page =]
Lynne~THAT would be a such a cool horror scene!!!!
Didn't Iron Maiden Productions put that movie out? ; )
With my luck I'd put it on and you'd hear the most unbelivable scream, as soon as it touched my head.
And when Motts found his voice, he'd be saying, "TOUCH WITH YOUR EYES! TOUCH WITH YOUR EYES!
How many times do I have to tell you to touch with your eyes!" : )
Ohhhh, yeah, THIS is what I was waiting for.

Motts, you made my day!
this pic reminds me of something out of lord of the rings. return of the king.
that is an amazing photo Mr. Motts. Just incredible
Lynne-
Don't you know all the bad staff from the hospitals end up here....Sheesh! At least when they abuse folks here no one complains...*Cackles* I am so evil...muahaha
pretty sweet, i like the shadows of the cobwebs and the crown in the image, along with the nice carvings on the side of teh
coffin. spooooooooooooooky
((Sutsuj is my classmate))
Nice shots, I agree With Sutsuj on the shadows, I love the shading in general

SHADING AND SUBLIMINAL MESSGING
Sorry Sutsuj took control of my keyboard

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!
(that was me)
The coffin looks rather plain for the crown to be resting on it. Looks like it goes with the second coffin I saw, the more ornate one. The crown looks so dusty, can't tell what it's made of. Could you tell? Looks like it may contain jewels. Did it???????
The crowns were made of metal, not sure what kind. They did not hold any jewels.
Beautiful Gallery as usual!
motts, another job well done.
exellent wallpaper please!!

i would have wanted to take it!
This is an amazing picture. I'm glad you didn't take the crown. Honor the dead.
Wow what a spectacular pic. Just goes to show that just because your rich your still going to die. R.I.P
Motts,
As black as the crown is, I say silver definately.
Being of Barony this crypt is, I definately believe it is silver.
The crown looks to be made of copper to me.
Hey1 now thats' something.
That's just outright beautiful.

One word - wallpaper!
This is so amazing. Hard to believe the crown wasn't stolen by grave robbers.
Its amazing no one has ever stolen that crown.
A crown resting on a coffin usually signifies that the deceased was a monarch. Strange that there would be so many laid to rest here, in an unlocked crypt.

But I guess Motts can't tell us much about it in case he gives away the location. And I completely respect him for that :)
Absolutely fantastic gallery. By far the best gallery of a burial crypt I've ever seen.

This is a coronet rather than a crown; a crown has arches over the top. This looks like the coronet of a duke. As to who, well...
Thanks for the info Kez and Richard. I wonder if the crown/coronet had to somehow be attached to the coffin? I mean, I hope no one would have even thought of taking it anyway, but sadly enough, you never know.
The Crown was placed there for what reason??? To be seen, and to recognize the grave as that of a king, perhaps. If it were not a royal, a peasant or common citizen perhaps why would a crown be placed upon it?? At best, to hide a nearby grave of a king - to distract the followers.... Be it a hoax or distraction, a very old crown of some significance was left upon this casket. Both possibilities deserve some reverence. Further investigation is definitely warrented before speculation quashes the matter.
My Prince has come ... I must meet you
and place akiss upon your bare skull
oh sorry....
