Rose

A close up of a small handle on one of the caskets. I'm not sure if some emblems were removed, as some had simply fallen off and other items inside seemed easier to steal...

that...just...gave me the chills.
Is that....ummmm...grass on the handle? How'd THAT get there? When the Count was returning early this morning, (Just before sunrise)maybe?
The decoration on this casket is simply amazing.
DANG THATS STUNNING!
THAT is a nice handle.. Love your detailed photos :)
such beautiful detail on something that is so sad to look at
Wonder which side he favored., House of Tudor, or House of York?
Aosome craftwork you just don.t see work like that anymore. Makes me ponder the person that made that. The work that went into making it, and the man himself. Thats what I see.
The wood looks like Oak.
ED i wondered that too, If a noble from the Tudor family was buried here. If so then i would be very excited, I'm a nut on the subject of Tudor family history.
I like the detail in the iron work. The veining in the rose petals, daisies, and leaves there. Even if that person was supose to be placed there and forgotten. It is touching how you made such even a simple thing known.
its been used before
Wonderful
The missing item above the handle has left a shadow in the wood in the shape of a crown - the crown symbol is often used to signify royalty or something by royal order (like on mustard or coats or something from, say, Harrods Department store in London, and under the crown it might say something like By Order of Her Majesty the Queen, xx (name of company) is the royal supplier of mustard or whatever the good is. I have a suede coat with this patch stitched inside.
