Third Floor Puddles

Third Floor Puddles

Although the plaster is in terrible condition, the structure seems to be quite solid.

What's the plaster attached to on the ceiling? Can't identify it, unless it's just heavily stained wooden lathe ...
It resembled a brick with ridges that held the plaster in; they look like the wall in this photo. http://www.opacity.us/image427.htm
Heh, should've guessed that, with looking at the other pics. I work more residental construction doing alot of demo then fucktoned places like these so it confused me for a sec.
Never saw plaster attached like that before.
Usually more wooden and metal lathe for me, in Cali ...
I've seen that material before on the partition walls of old concrete-framed buildings. It's a hollow tile like what chimney flues are made of. It's strange to see it on a ceiling, however. Wonder what holds it up?
