Right out of a movie this is..
Smashing shot of the interior!
It's my understanding that the castle gatehouses used to have small openings where guards inside could have their weapons ready... interesting stuff!
Just beckons you in, it's so beautiful
You're right Kadee! : )
I get the strong feeling that all I have to do is walk a little to my left and somehow I'll be on that path and be able to enter another world that time has almost erased.
the small openings were called murder holes and guards would pour things like melted sand(like medieval napalm it sticks and burns),quick lime and the usual arrows, bolts and rocks.
did they have anything showing what the draw bridge might have looked like maybe like a drawing or samet hing someone made to like some thing from that time?
Kadee is right its just inviting you to come in and look...back into a a nother time and place.
Anyone know what the statue above the gate openning was of? or who?
The statue would probably depict king Edward I or earl Henry De lacy who owned the castle. It could even be king Arther as the king used the legend as a propaganda tool.
I'm dying to go in. This place is the premium.
Wow...the stonework and the texture...EVERYTHING is so entrancing and intricate. Simply amazing. Wonderful shot.
luminous star; you are a walking encyclopedia on this subject. Where do you get all your info?????
Wow i love the stonework and the texture i wont have a problem going in
The first records of my family were there in England about two hundred years before that castle was built. They were originally from the Netherlands.
