Grounds

A rather unappealing shot of the grounds.

Wouldn't be surprised to see this make a total comback of sorts now that casino gambling has been legalized and is sprouting up in the Catskill region.
It would take a ton of money. It's a shame. I really like this place.

There was a fire in 2003:

"Fallsburgh Police are calling the fire at the former Pines Hotel, arson. Detective Simmie Williams says, evidence found at the scene of Thursday's fire has led investigators to believe that the fire had been set. The search has begun for those responsible. The fire destroyed the Carlton building at the vacant Pines Hotel complex in South Fallsburg. Williams says people have been known to trespass on the property and stay in the Carlton building. "
I can recall billboards advertising the Pine's as Jerry Lewis's "favorite hotel". How sad...
Whats with the white bloches on the right?
I REMEBER BACK IN THE 80'S WORKING SOCIAL STAFF. I REMBER A HERMIT THAT LIVED IN THE BOILER ROOM FOR A FEW YEARS HE NEVER TALK AND KNW ONE EVER BOTHERED HIM
Eddie ~ the "white blotches" appear to be a reflection on the window that Mr Motts was shooting through.
I can just imagine kids running around with their parents following in tow. The hustle and bustle.
My family and I stayed at the Pines Hotel every summer from 1958 through 1976. It is so sad that it was left to ruins. Hopefully it will be restored one day .
Motts says its a rather unappealing shot, but it almost comes to life for me, I can almost see people in the picture (you know, like one of those cheesey Titanic movie flashbacks).
Doreen, having explored this place, I think it is beyond restoration.
Richard - were you ever at the Pines? I know it looks like it is beyond restoration, however nothing is impossible..it amazes me that in just 8 short years it could turn to this...I'm planning a trip up there to hopefully see it for myself...if you grew up there every summer like I did it just does not seem possible and won't for me until I see it for real... e-mail me at Doreen4remax@aol.com and thank you for a response....Doreen :)
Were you up there to see it in ruins? If you have any uodated photos - please send them to me at Doreen4remax@aol.com Thank you Richard.
I almost fell through a floor in one area, The cieling over the night club is barely holding together. The fire in one building hasn't helped. It hsa been exposed to the elements with no maint. for just about 10 years. the cieiling over the kitchen has caved in.
This is my favorite location of them all, just beautiful!!!
i worked at the pines in the late 70s and early 80s it is very sad looking at those pics.i remember hank leeds mc and all the great activites they had there
were do you find all these places mr. motts?
Peaceful
Where is the Pines Hotel?
We used to go there for many years with the family at the end of summer, before school started. My kids loved the place. I think before the fire, the roof caved in from the weight of snow. The owners didn't want to rebuild, but they couldn't get the insurance anyother way. It was not the same after that, and closed a year or two later. They charged separately for everything, including meals when they had to reopen. It's a shame that almost all of these hotels are gone.
This place looks beautiful i wish i could of been there when it was inhabitated but i would still like to see it how beautiful
that is the place for my eagle scout project!
