Film

What looks to be an old film rewinder. I did not set this shot up, but I'm sure some previous explorer had a hand in doing so.

Hmm... The old Vincent Price movie was here?
I've been waiting to see this one since it was posted as a standalone on the news page! Excellent.
Very cool shot!
Motts, were there any images visible on the film?
bet it was Night of the Living Dead
Excellent shot Motts! As usual, magnificent use of light and background!
Naw... I bet it was "ONE FLEW OVER THE KOO KOOS NEST" !
old family vacations films?
This is the premium
You like the word "premium" Jo?

anyway this shot makes me thing of 'the House on haunted hill'... dont wanna know what was on these reels - dissections? experimnets?
I don't remember being able to make out any of the images on the film.
The film's probably so over-exposed by now that you wouldn't be able to make anything out anyway. Very cool shot though.
I guess I use the word premimum alot.

I just love this photo so much, too bad the film probabally turned to poop after all those years. :[
anyone up for a movie?
Made me think of J.Geils, "Freeze Frame"
YES!!!!! I can see it now, THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTIEN, with ghat white streak in her hair. I LOVE IT!!!!!
We have those in the theatre I work in....
koo-koo ....lol Cuckoo.........best line in the film ....."mmmm Juicy Fruit"..............did ya guess that , guys?
The crinkled film adds a bit of a misshapeness in the expression of the photo.
The peeling paint is a great accent along with it.
the place u investigate is damned
Wow, as a film student I would've been all over that. I wonder if you could still see an image on the negatives? now THAT would've been cool!
florid jans buying the popcorne
What's on the slides/
Motts,

Cellulose film has a half life of 10-15 years if not properly stored, my best guess is this film is toast and you could not get a viewable image off it. It will begin to cloud and harden pretty quickly and does worst in hot, humid areas. You can usually tell by "sniffing" the film. If it has a vinegary smell the acetyl acids are proably starting to leach from the film. The acids from your fingers can also break it down, so films that got touched a lot fall apart pretty fast too.

there is more on the whole process here

Most of the stuff you find will fall into this category. If you find 35mm film it is probably also unusable if it is Kodachrome as the last shop developing it finally stopped this year.
