Why are the lights on?

I am thinking maybe skylights or the celing fell through???? Motts any thoughts???

I think those are skylights that are illuminating the hallway...you can see a light fixture between the two far ones.

Thay are skylightd,,,, No power in Denbigh for a hell of a long time!

Looks like something soggy was dragged down this hallway...

Interesting how common this hallway design is. Every UK asylum we've seen has these long hallways with canted upper edges.

Skylights...and they always leak...just look where the moset decay is at...

Loot like most of what I have seen so far of the damage is just from that....water..leaking roof, windows being open or broken. Doesnt seem to be much in the way of vandals....Is that what you noticed also Mr. Motts?

The entire right side from ceiling to floor looks like a gross seeping wound, ewww!

This place was smashed up a bit, but yeah it wasn't too vandalized.

the first thought i had, was a bloody prisoner being dragged along the floor by an arm, that looked broken. man i'm morbid.

That's awesome. I too at first glance thought the lights were on. Then I immediately knew that wasn't possible. Great deceptive shot. Were you going for the try and fool people approach with this shot, or did that even cross your mind when you took this?

Maybe they had a red carpet floor and it got water damaged and leaked its color onto the floor.

wow! i some how stumbled across this site while browsing and your pictures are just amazing, i love photography myself. this picture in particular is very striking. i agree with a comment someone else made, in that most of your pictures have a very silent hill feel to them. cant wait to look at some more amazing shots, they are very intriguing.

It looks to me like no one stopped a flooding toilet. That why the middle of the floor is wet.

I've walked down that corridor. Actually it looks better now than when it was closed up and dark.

ahh the old denbigh mental. I live really close to denbigh, went to high-school there and, of course, half my close friends live there. Anyway, we've been inside and it's a morbid place, you can find old medica lrecords of patients lying around, for example, if they were on suicide watch. Also, some of my frinds relatives worked there with some disturing stories to tell!

as i've yet to find it

i live just up the road from here and its an amazin building and i have been in it many times as a family member used to be a security guard there

Im guessing the yellow/pink/green/blue colors of most asylums is to be "pleasant" to the patients, but not "shocking" as to not upset them.

really mint pic. but looks like 1 of the clients still wonders he corridors.can u c at the left far end.

most hauted is on at the moment and they have said nothing about red stained floors so i think some one has done this and they are standing so the sun hits there reflection at the right time.

As Soon As I Looked At This Picture I Has A Sort Of Vision At The Sides Were 2 Gurneys With People Strapped Down With Young Nurses In White Dresses Holding their Hands As they Struggle. very intreguing

It is a good picture, but i wouldn't walk down there in the middle of the night doing an investigation on my own

what the hell has gone on here!! how sad!!

does any1 realise how haunted this place is!! my uncle was a resident b4 it shut down in 95, hes told us the storys of what he'd seen while in there. scary shit man!!

Is the red stain blood?

No, it's a tiled floor. At some point the tiles at the edges were blue whilst those in the center were red. In some of the NHS hospitals I've been in they did this to help partialy-sighted people find their way without bumping into the walls. Might just be decoration though.

i have been to this place many times ....................... it is a a very sad location almost haunting. just imagine how much death the place has seen....
