Is EP for extended pass?
EP =Escape Precautions
Ah, yes! Thanks! :-)
Very close to when I was born =|
1990...wow I was only 9 at that time. They actually keep these kinda papers laying around still? That seems to happen alot I've noticed...
I was 9 too.Strange to think if id been born a few years earlier id have possibly ended up here. They changed the services here to a mental health unit in the nearby general hospital.
Just about every hospital has forms like these. With all the basic info about the day to day goings on , shift by shift. Some are interesting reading.
elopment procations is was is put on the door inpatient psych mean don't let patients exscape.
yes, ed, they do make for interesting reading!
I was 3 o.o and my sister was born in december that year. One suicide for an entire year? That's good...right?
I don't know about the rest of the year Merissa but that report is just for the day of the 16th.
It would be very interesting to read all the old records from these hospitals and such. Like remember that one place where Mr. Motts took photos with that wall to wall boxes full of paper...? I can't remember where it was from, but to read everything..of course in a safe place thats not illegal. lol.
hey Sam, it was Cliffside Mental Hospital, that's the gallery with that picture. plenty of reading material there!
Maybe E.P. comes from emergency patients??? You know, emergency admissions...
Big Ed is correct - I remember now - elopement or escape precautions (depending on what part of the country you lived in and what year it was).
Obviously I haven't seen the papers, but it looks to me like it says "Suicidals" rather than "Suicides". Perhaps it means that one patient was feeling suicidal, rather than that they did manage to kill themselves? That might fit in rather better with the other column being for taking precautions against escapes - having a column for tallying people who succeeded in killing themselves (presumably when the hospital was trying to prevent such action) seems a little odd to me.
I believe you are right, thanks!
I'm not sure, but I would think that there would be a lot more than one person a day feeling suicidal, especially in a place this big (though I don't know how many patients it had at a time, I'm guessing quite a few.) I'd imagine that some of the patients here would feel suicidal pretty much every day. But who knows. Maye they were out of touch with reality enough that their craziness manifested itself in other ways.

That report was taken on my 10th birthday. Weird coincidence.
Rachel, I believe this report was for one ward, which I would assume to be a single floor of a single wing of the hospital. If there were 18 patients in this ward, then one suicidal patient would be a very realistic number.
This may be the way we will all end up. Just names and dates in the BIG BOOK OF LIFE. Think about it. Thank you Mr. Motts for bringing this to my attention.
Psych reports are always interesting stuff. I used to read some of the more interesting files my doctor kept on file back when I was an assistant MOA. I've tried to get a hold of what mine, but apparently they don't like releasing them to the patients.
Since I currently work in a Psych Hospital in Seattle, the notes are not all that different than today, sorry to say.
Wow, since we are diving into ages, I was going on 13 in 24 days of that date. Amazing that they left the papers just lying there.
November 1990 was my 2 years birthday.
And boy am I glad we're past the time anti-social gets you locked up. I have pitiful people skill :-D
E.P is epileptics
And, my 25th Birthday was almost exactly between the 2 dates (11/16-11/29)
Leave means that the patient is away from the hospital, possibly with a guardian.
The sheet that says 17-11-90 was written on my 10th birthday. I'm pretty sure I saw Home Alone for my 10th birthday to give you an idea of how old they are.
11-16-90
three days later i was born

then abandoned
Ahhh......I turned 13 that year. One of the best years of my life!
1990?

i was born 2 years after that.
wow.

this is scary.
):
It's a daily report for November 29th 1990.

Suicidals=Precautions, and closer observation. Probably 15' checks

EP= Escape/ elopement precautions. Someone there was a threat to book it
They were also at capacity for that floor. Where it says beds vacant you see, Male Female and written in is Nil.
1990? I was 37. :-)

/grabs walker and shuffles out
lets see, 1990, i was two on the 15th of november O.O
I'd have already turned 22 yrs old by than....I'm a little older than that now....how time does fly doesn't it for us all.....Really none of these files or papers should ever be left behind period. Major fines happen in the US for places that do this. Not sure about Europe etc. Its wrong period. I work in medical records in a Dr's office. Its so wrong. I do agree that its interesting and all but just think if it was 'your' records being looked at on the Net. You might think about it differently.
I wasn't even born then...I was born on the 24th or 1991.

But yeah, it does seem to read as "suicidals" and not "suicides". I mean, how would you kill yourself in a psych ward? They take shoe-laces, belts, paperclips, no silverware. I guess you could like smash your head against something until you died, but that's rather loud.
If you are sincere and dedicated there are endless ways to commit suicide, even in a psych ward under almost constant observation.
Sarah is right EP stands for epileptic
Most wards had morethan 18 - more than likely a top floor ward
You're right Lynne seen it plenty, even in high secure
That is really freaky i'm born on the second of november and on the 16th someone commited suicide O_o
EP = Escaped Patients.
E.P. is epileptic patients. I am a 3rd year student nurse, and I work in psychiatric units as part of my nursing education.
it should be repaired , a hotel the very unsafe
places that can not be repaired should carefully be taken down side small rooms could be made if put into one a single room with en suite with directions a signs and directions of it this would make a wonderful hotel, with facilities out side with gardens for the hotel.
The daily census reports I'm familiar with never had any confidential information. They were strictly counts--how many open beds, how many patients with special instructions (seizures, dietary restrictions, elopement precautions, suicidal, etc.), how many "adverse incidents," maintenance problems, staff on leave, things like that. At the most they might have initials (if a patient was injured or so ill s/he had to be transferred to the infirmary, for example). It's important to track this information so that when there is a new admission, the patient can be assigned to the most appropriate ward--if one ward already has several patients with elopement precautions, but another ward has none, a new patient needing the same precautions would be assigned to the ward that currently has no such patients. They are also useful in assigning staff so that you have the most intensive staffing with the patients who have the most involved care.
1990 is when Disneyland Fun Sing Along came out!!! It was in August not November.
I was 6.
1990? I was born 2 years later
this is kinda cool. here it is November 28th 2010 and i find this picture of papers done november 29 1990.
mel, thats was my 10th birthday too!!
i was 5...since where on ages...and this website is so amazing ive been on here for hours lookin at all these abandoned buildings and reading all these comments...great stuff
My mother was one of the last patients to leave the asylum back in the early 90's I was born in 1989 and didnt know my mother for the first few years of my life i have always wanted to go and explore this place as the stories i hear from people are not very good ones with regards to the treatment of patients while they were in there apparently there were many suicides often on a weekly basis but these patients were tormented and abused mentally and physically on a daily basis i think only the people that were there at the time will know the truth perhaps guilty or not.....
