What a beautifully tacky combination of wallpaper and carpeting!
That looks like my family's apartment before the renovations. I like the tacky!
Good grief, that is reminiscent of the shiny, tacky wallpaper I no longer have to look at in my living room! :-)
this is why the people went insane, bad interior design.
that's carpet on the floor? it looked like glue spots from when tile is removed. i dig the wallpaper, kinda like fabric.
I can't seem to figure out what that little "framed hole" in the corner is...It continues under the window as a gap and I'm just puzzled..My computer screen might be too dim for me too see it clearly (I adjusted it back and forth with no effect), but..WHAT IS THE HOLE FOR? O_o
I think it's just a vent, Mechabull. The dark gap under the window I believe to be just shadows from the radiator thingie sticking out under the window...but I could be wrong!
Once upon a time somebody who was trapped in his or her mind and could not leave this place may have stood right here and been looking out the window. Try to imagine the pain in the heart...
i thought it was groove that was in the heart?
I don't know why but it looks like a little old lady's room with the bad carpet and wallpaper. Kinda makes me sad.
What some people will do to save a buck on remodeling! At least it gives something interesting to comtemplate. Such as: Who in their right mind would have either of these elements in their home or office let alone both AT THE SAME TIME!
Yeah, you might be right Sara B. Now that I look at it, "the dark part" under the window really is a shadow..XD The papers on the floor seemed to create lines that I mistook as edges..Clearly said..8D And the hole must be for venting, I agree. It just looks abnormally huge, like, you could fit through it if you were really small and skinny.. X ] Or a cat. :S
I love the light how it makes the wallpaper 'shine' or whatnot. Gorgeous tacky combination...lol.
I'm sure the effect when new and balanced with furniture was much more subtle. I love it.
so good picture!
It reminds me about horror games such as Alone In The Dark..silly I guess:D
the shapes and angles are so wierd, like the designer kept forgetting his plan, something in it just feels amiss, conventional decorators might bitch about trying to decorate something like this. Id be in heaven if it was my room. and what is that thing under the window,? soap dispenser? cool! it matches the room.
oh ya, the view is incredible, motts ,I bow, again.
In my opinion they are bugs and spiders. Im sure yhat some of these people had an extreme fear of bugs and spiders. This room was to show them that they won't hurt hurt them. WHAT A JOKE. Torture, just pure TORTURE!!!!!! That's the way they did things back then.Face your fears and overcome them. I mean, for what other reason would a room be decorated like this. I'd lide some response here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nevermore, you're just SCREAMING out for Lynne here, aren't you. -_-; surely, I hope that was supposed to be funny...

if you want my opinion, the room seems rather ornate, yet tacky... but welcoming all the same. I wouldn't mind being in a room like this one if I had to spend my days in a mental hospital. its better than no decorations at all!
If that was suppose to be funny - what about all the other comments?
I think the room is just reflecting how tacky our tastes were at the time, myself. And truthfully, few patients' rooms were ever this ornate (unless they were pretty rich or came from rich families). I am guessing this was a staff bedroom (but that's just a guess).
I thought I was going to read "filth marks on the wall...." in the discription... seriously :-P
What was up with designers those days?
I love the wall paper, it kind of reminds me of, hmmm *ponders* black butterflies. Dead ones. Flying away from the horror within the building. Muhahaha. Maybe i read too much into architecture and the like. :D
You can also find the same print as the carpet on any sofa being sold at a thrift store, moldy basement, or my neighbor's front porch!
All the fancy stuff might have been for the richies that survived the Titanic disaster, after they went nuts because everything they owned went down with the ship.
Reminds me of the 'Blue' video by The Birthday Massacre. Oh how I looooooovvvvveee that video! You all, INCLUDING LYNNE, should look at it. I love it!
I think it's quite beautiful. That golden carpet with that ornate silk-like shimmer on the walls... early 20th century style.
