Barren

The complex was pretty extensive; there were about 20 or so buildings lined along a looping road, each was similar in architecture and layout. All suffered from a major blaze as the roofs from each were charred and almost completely gone.

Picture postcard perfect! Another great gallery Mr. Motts!
The dead-looking tree adds a perfect touch, drawing the onlooker's eye to the deteriorating landscape. Amazing.

Fan-fucking-tastic! Well done sir. What time of day was this? Did you even think it would turn out this good?
I just love to snoop through old buildings, amazing what you can find in them.
I'm guesing the shot was taken at about 5 in the afternoon...
One of the best yet, honestly. Heh. I didn't expect any different from Europe, where the old things are more oftenly left standing rather than be broken down. I bet there's some nice buildings around here just waiting to be discovered.
Well Done Motts!!!!
What an amazing picture! Great job Motts!
Thanks for listening to us and putting it up as wallpaper!
Thank you Mister Motts, the wallpaper is much appreciated

"A picture is a painted poem. Those who deny it are simply men who have no poetry in their composition."
-J. Comyns Carr, "Coasting Bohemia", 1914.
oh the memories...
Motts, your eye & talent never ceases to astonish. As always, thanks for sharing.

Now, what this image instantly reminded me of was the imagry captured by Freddie Francis in all those wonderful old Hammer films.
silent horror film, befor the blood & gore
Amazing scene. The tops of the buildings in the distance with the eery, dead like tree to offset the canvas of decay... simply fantastic.
*jaw drops and is speechless*

Yeah...what everyone ^up^ there said!
I can't describe how phenomenol this pic is. The colors, and the imagination, it takes me there. I want to be there right now. Thanks for your work
Zarpado.
Impresionante.
Fabuloso.
De la Hostia.
Buenísimo.
Alucinante.
Increíble.
In all you see the drama, the emotional weather, the history underneath.
My english is a very poor thing. Sorry.
I finally gave in regarding this shot. I'd been using one of your wonderful shots of one of my fav subjects in Danvers State Hospital as my desktop wallpaper for the longest time & was loath to give it up.
But, I could resist this one's stark beauty & atmosphere no longer. Many thanks Motts for sharing your visions with us.
I agree this is one beautiful photo. The Danvers wallpaper has been on my computer since I bought it in May and I will never delete it! It's the first thing I see when I turn on my computer and when I shut it off. I just don't ever want to forget the beauty of Danvers!
Motts, if you have a few guys, dress them up in slouch hats and long winter coats, add a girl wearing a bonnet, with the men carrying heavy books, you can name this picture: "Puritans heading to Church, New Haven, Connecticut,1632"

This one looks like a Currier & Ives lithograph from the 19th century.

Give yourself a pat on the back for such a piece of good work!
designed with passion some what of a powerful talent keep up with your adventuring into the darkside keep it exclusive but be careful summoning a dark secret could be crucial, wish i had that kind of time on my hands very intresting
A very powerful picture
I agree with you Ramond, would pass for a Currior & Ives Print. GEORGEOUS!!!!!! I wanted ot put the C&Ives comment in but, I didn' think anybody would know what I was talking about. Motts, I TAKE MY HAT OFF TO YOU(if I wore a hat) YOU ARE AN ARTIST!!!!!!!!
Words have failed me!. I don't even know how to describe this! Absolutely nothing negative of course.
that right there is amazing!
Truly breathtaking Motts, truly breathtaking..
I'm listening to the soundtrack to "Braveheart"
(I know that's Scottish, BTW) and looking at these awe-inspiring works of art. Almost an
out-of-body experience. Thanx, Motts, for sharing your works. (My fav shot, gorgeous)
There are no words to describe this photo!

just to let you know that i used to work at the hospital and knew all the places you have photographed. the place had both happy and sad memories for me.
Hmm.I live locally to Great Barr.
this was amazing short cut from walsall to pheasey
Absolutely beautiful shot, I've spent many an hour over on the St Margaret's complex walking and riding my horse and this shot is wonderful to see and even better than I remember it. They have now completely demolished all the buildings that you see in this picture.
When the buildings shown here were first abandoned about 17 years ago there was alot of equiptment left behind within them but over time kids got in and badly vandilised them.
I was told that in the long single story building on the left of the picture children were housed and treated. I remember on the grass in front of these buildings you once could see where the tennis and basket ball courts were.
You are correct about the children's wards. I was a volunteer there for 9 years and this wonderful picture took me back to the many times I walked that exact path. The bitter sweet memories of many children no longer with us. Thank you for such evocotive memories of a place I loved to go
i love this image its eerie but serene
Just to update everyone, these building have now been completely demolished thanks to the vandals. Due to so many fires being set within buildings by the vandals and the fire service not being able to access the site with fire engines they felt it was too dangerous to leave them standing therefore they have now been flatened and only the roads they stood next to exist now.
That certainly makes this gallery even more special to me, thanks, your photos are wonderul.
