Doorway

Doorway

The old inscription on the doorway read, "Chief Male Nurse", perhaps it was an office or residence. You can see some of the scrollwork on the stairs here as well.

I would love to have that scroll work in my room!
yeah, it's great. I'm so jealous! I'm way to scared of getting caught to explore things like this.
That staircase must have been very grand. Beautiful scrollwork
I love this shot!

Motts, it looks almost like some sort of open fret work on the walls under each of those gorgeous "column toppers", for lack of what they are called. Perhaps in reality it's a design on the walls rather than open work?
Love the details!
I love doors in open spaces. :D Well, semi-open.
It must be openwork of some sort, everything on the walls has already come off.
amazing shot!
I guess it IS open work..... thanks to Mathue, you can see it here:

The building changed once you get to the green infrared photo in this gallery.
It's STILL BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!
There were No male nurses back in this era.....
I'm listening to the soundtrack to "Braveheart"
(I know that's Scottish, BTW) and looking at these awe-inspiring works of art. Almost an
out-of-body experience. Thanx, Motts, for sharing your works.
Must be a rush to get in and explore some of the places you photograph.
Yor eye for detail pulls heart strings Motts!
I have ti inform that the hospital had a high number of male nurses right from th e days when it was a colony
The Hall was used as offices by the hospital right into the 1970's, that would explain the Chief male nurse sign.
The stairs had chalk mouldings inlayed all the way down.
the is so cool jude the before and after pic vary cool
vary cool pic motts my hats off to you
this pic is cool i love the plaster mouldings in the walls its so victorian
i HATE all the graffitti, ( sorry, can't spell. lol!) this is such a beautiful building as are all the places you visit Motts, and it's such a shame.
