That is a "whosamagidget" manufactured in the 30's by Acme Co.

Or it could be a furnace?
Reckon that was an electrical transformer - would be filled with oil and the pipes would help with cooling.
It's creepy, Thats what it is. PCB creepy.
Reminds me of a radio. Possibly a short wave set. I can see what's left of an antenna.
I'd love to crawl inside that thing. Was it big enough to do so?
lol @ english colloquialisms...

[SEAN] WOZ ERE
This looks like the remains of one of those small gas furnaces that would normally hang from the ceiling. Possibly electric, but that's what it reminds me of, if should have a fan somewhere to blow heat across the heat pipes, but it looks well abused. Cool item though, I love random machinery!
The fact that it was loacted in a shed next to a building makes me think it might be a stepdown transformer.

That would make it certified PCB creepy :)
A transformer with the core & coils (insides) removed
Didn't fat albert and the Cosby Kids make musical instuments out of these?
I think it's used to shoot confetti at the end of a concert or political rally
LOL
looks like the shreadder from the movie Fargo
Weebs...in Italian we call i a Cumezekyame......or a Whatchyamakallit
It definately look electrical to me, though....transformer-like...
There is is!!! I have been looking for this thing!!! It's the FLUX CAPACITOR for the Delorian!!!
yes thats a distrobution transformer. it normaly is filled with a fuse oil for cooling and will have a primary winding and a secondary windin in the middle made of copper im shure some one gutted it for copper money.
??? woz here???
Looks like a very old heater .
That thig is loaded with pcb's stay away from that.
Who woz ere?
The remains of an electrical power transformer. And the thought of PCB's is right on the money.
Dammit Bill R.! I was watching Back to the Future when I read your comment! It was during the dance scene. Whatever it is, it sings!
"Woz ere." How it reminds me of my school planner!
what the hell are pcbs
PCB's are Poly Chlorinated Biphneyls which are a class of chemicals that were added to electrical insulating fluids (and semi solids) to render them less flammable. They are toxic and when they burn (note I said less flammable) they would turn into dioxin which is even more toxic than PCB. They went by several trade names such as Askarel, Arochlor and Chlorhextol.
Weebs; I love you comment. My first thoughts were "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT"???? Then I went to your comment (the first one, I must add) and I had to LOL!!!!!!!!!
thats definatly a step down transformer, i live in the uk and theres one just like it at the top of my street.
I agree with EE, I wouldnt want to be near that if it were operational.
The first thing i thought of when i saw it was the large deisel engines that were in subs around the battle of the atlantic.
This is a transformer which was near to the kitchens.
whatever that is its really creepy
When that machine was being used, it probably did get very hot in the 1930's.
Don't ya'll know soap dispensers when you see one?

Sheesh....
