Demolition

Demolition

A glimpse of the main hall being torn down... we left in a hurry in case one of the tall walls decided to fall in our direction.

wow, with all the demo going on in the states its cool to be able to see shots of someone in the place while the crews do their job.
Wow, this made me so sad! Great little piece of history in this picture Mr. Motts.
:'( that hall was so cool.
Looks like WWII photographs
This was one of my absolute favorite photographs until I read the description of what it was. Motts or alias, do they have to do asbestos abatement in any of these buildings like they do here in America?
Sad that the hall is now gone....from the scorched marks around the windows, it looked like maybe demo had to take place to prevent an unforunate collapse that may have injured someone. Still sad.
I would assume the laws of removing ACMs and other hazardous substances are similar in both countries.
We would hope.
Hi Mr. Motts! The Main Hall has indeed been demolished to make the area safe, as correctly assumed by AUTUMNTWIN. Since 'SAVE' & local opposition over re-development of most of the buildings in 2003, the entire site affords Listed / Historic Protection. Basically, most of the buildings are going to be re-used, and the mature grounds re-juvinated as part of the proposed landscaping. Looks like the Developers won't be allowed to ruin this site (so long as the Planning Dept. keep a very close eye on what actually happens!!! Great site Motts -keep safe & keep up the good work!
I like this photo a lot., I'm surprised nobody mentioned the window. It looks so bright and hopeful, while its surrounded by scorched and torn walls. Almost like a window into the past of what this hall once was...
You are a note worthy hero Motts, but no pun intended in my handle durring the sentence.
the main hall was attacked by arsonists it boasted an original sprung floor.
I loved that hall. As a staff member I acted on the stage in many productions from 1958 to 1977 (mostly pantomimes)
It was a beautiful hall with a great floor to dance on, which I did on many New Years Eves and other functions.
It is sad to see its passing.
this is really sad :(
