Pink...not a particularly agitating pink though. That X is mesmerizing. One of the most interesting hallway shots I've seen on the site, I think. :)

It's Baker-Miller Pink!!! (a.k.a. Drunk Tank Pink)...I know I've seen a link somewhere around here for the article regarding this particular shade of pink.

What wonderful colors were in this place!

The thudding is what I would be afraid of in abandoned buildings--homeless living there. Seriously, do you ever carry a baseball bat or something worried about getting attacked?

Homeless people usually avoid confrontation unless they're looking for a handout... and when they get one they are quite friendly. There can be major legal repercussions if you are carrying "weapons"... a heavy tripod or maglite can do wonders when swung hard enough.

Any place with a half-decent security force usually has no homeless living inside so we weren't worried.

I'd want to have a bat, NY homeless can be quite unpleasant....in fact there were a few kids attacked by some homeless guy in the 1980s. They snuck into Pilgrim and disturbed him. He thought the abadoned area was his "house" and the kids were trying to take it. I'll have to see if there's an article about the incident on google....

Actually, I believe that is "Flamingo Pink" on the walls. It was used in asylums, thought to calm patients, when it actually made them more mad. The color was banned I think in the 1950's

I Love This Site... Just wanted to tell you the X's Mean Asbestos i found that out in whittingham assylum, which im unhappy to say is getting worse.. When i went Last Week We Bumped Into 5 lads Digging Up The Floors In The corridors Looking For copper And Metal For Money! :(

Believe it or not if you ever see cartoon characters with x's on the eyes it means they are dead. I believe that someone died here, and the person was dragged. An x in my opinion means death.
