Seclusion

Seclusion

The seclusion rooms had tall ceilings and large covers over the windows that could be locked, and had two small caged windows themselves to let a bit of light in.

More great black and white, and you're twisting our collective heads back the other way now!
like the other one ... its very nice
uneasy and alarming.
I wonder why the ceilings were so high up.
Probably so no one could hang themself...
Seriously, is that why the ceilings were so high? I know really older places had real high ceilings.
Easier to keep cool during the summer. In the US, you see this a lot in southern states, especially in older (pre-AC) buildings...
Ahh, that makes sense.
some days I feel like I belong in this room
heat rises .
the colors yellow and orange come to mind .... dunno why
u have to think about how many ppl had "accidents" and stuff in these kind of rooms
"Accidents"? You mean got beat up?
When you say accidents,;
do you mean they got beat up, or they pooed and weeed themselves, or as most likely a bit of both in the sadness of spending
SECONDS
MINUTES
HOURS
DAYS
WEEKS
MONTHS
AND IN MANY CASES .......YEARS IN A CAGE LIKE THIS.

How terribly sad.......
it's amazing that they could lock people up in there..... even if it was for their own good. That had to be breaking some sort of human rights law
Welcome to Bates Motel.. Vacancy..

Another wonderful shot that leads to the dark recesses of the humand mind..
I wonder what you had to do to end up here
something that today you could do community service,
Love the B&W. Looks so Lonely. Just GREAT!
I feel that the B&W picks up the shadows of the peeling paint .
If the person they locked in there wasn't alread crazy...
Moonchild ....all you had to do was get pregnant.......amongst other minor indiscressions
this pic makes me feel like im sitting in the corner, like ive gone crazy
Heya,

It is true about ''minor indiscressions'' some of the ''patients'' or should I state ''guinea pigs'' were as normal as can be until they came out. It would many anyone go mad!

On another note would anyone hold any documentation of Hellingly? On the architect G.T.Hine or staff, patients and even visitors? I am writing my architecture dissertation and would be very useful also to hear any stories or myths of the place as the only real documents lie within a memory and most of the people there probably are not alive!

I would hate to see any friend or relative of mine in this situation and in the future would like to build something that would want to make the patient live a good life, to be inspired in their surroundings, enabling them to have the option to be slightly free! Though this build I think is beautiful not many patients or staff would agree.

Many thanks
