Here's a closeup of the debris on the floor:

WAWAWAWAWAWAWAWA!!!! Great anti-smoking commercial!
well this shot puts the lone chair in a whole new perspective. Creepy
Creepy. It does look like a SHC photo.
Maybe That Was BleedingShutter Sitting there.

Hint Hint, Inside Joke

Who knew our leader had talent AND a funky sense of humour?? Haha good one, Motts!
"Who knew our leader had talent AND a funky sense of humour??"

I had an inkling.

Poor lonely chair ... at least it got a cigarette before its exicution.
Did you take these in Europe?
This is the greatest advertisement I've ever seen!
In Europe every cigarette thingie has that advertisment. It must have it, otherwise it's illegal. The advertisment usually says things like "Smoking Kills" or "Smoking causes impotence". Quite stupid actually..
Same in Canada, Maria.
We have similar ones in the US, although they're kinda weak (like "Quitting smoking now greatly reduces your health risks")... Great shot, and it isn't too hard to imagine someone bursting into flames while sitting there and smoking... ouch!
Someone had way too many chili peppers and they EXPLODED! Took the chair down with them!
man I knew farting after all those beans was the wrong thing to do
-rolls on floor laughing-
HAHAHA.

Irony. Humor. Lovely.

I'm suprised the chair wasn't completley reduced to ashes, and only that little area was singed. Thank goodness.
Well i'm going to go the "potty humor" route....That was one UBER fart!!!

But that is a wonderful pic. I like Motts suggestion of spontaneous human combustion. Interesting subject to read up on.

BTW off topic, is anyone else getting bombarded with pop ups on this site?? I've never had that happen before.
Is this the hot seat from who wants to be a millionaire??
Buckykat, no, there is most likely spyware on your computer. This website does not and will never have pop-up advertisements.
Truly a gem of a find even though it appears set up.

giggles :-)
Not insinuating you Mott's, probably just some kids with a sense of humor and an imagination!
Did the debris smell sweet?
Awesome.
I would LOVE this picture, with the caption, "Yet again, Derek's farts have ruined another chair". Derek is my husband and his farts could possibly do this to a chair, lol.
Here in Ontario Canada we have those ciggarette warnings but we also have lovely pictures to accompany them, such as rotting teeth, lung tumors, a baby hooked up to a respirator...ect...
And from then on, there were no more Three Bean Chili Fridays in the hospital cafeteria
he killed himself or herself
Motts, I've been checking out your gallery for a while now, but never commented. Your compositions are beautiful, and if there is anything I like better than your photos it's your sense of humor! You have quite an impressive body of work on this site!
Are you sure you didn't put that pack there? It's just a little too coincidental for me. Pack of cigarettes on top of the ashes of a burnt chair? Had to be a set up by SOMEONE even if it wasn't Motts.
In reference to the first picture, it COULD be yet another incidental reference to the mind of a mentally ill person. The base has colapsed through and everything has fellen through with it, like a psychological abyss.
the asylum security wouldn't let cigarettes in. that had to be set up. cool pic, though
You know what they say, where there's smoke there's fire!
Would be interesting to see how that chair burned. Just the bottom fell out of it.
The top corner looks charred though.
The left arm of the chair seems unaffected while the rest of chair is charred, thats odd.
remember never smoke while passing gas-
wind could have been a factor to how it burned.
GREAT SHOT MR MOTS. how ironic!!! As for smoking, face it people. I's just like prohibition of the 1920's in the US. The us gov. knows that this was a big mistake. Far to much Revenue taken in, in the form of taxes. They legalized alchol. Same about cigs. The Gov. can't afford to make them illegal. So what do they do to appease the anti smoking peo[le with these ads. The day that smoking is outlawed is the day that the Gov. goes down. Think about it!!! I'll get of my soap box now.
Asylum security.......no ciggies.....LOL ...those places were full of chainsmokers.....the poor buggers needed some pleasures in life..........I reckon local kids set the pack there .......Brit Humour Rules
If threat of self combustion doesn't make you quit smoking....
Scientists say spontaneous combustion is a myth, but this chair makes me wonder!
Beautiful shot. I've been looking through your galleries and have been tempted to post, but for some reason I haven't yet. Your photography has yet to make me scoff or say, "Wow, what crap." You are truly amazing!

As to the US's pathetic cigarette warning labels.. It's no wonder, seeing as how just about every other country in existence (that isn't third-world or communist) acknowledges the deadliness of cigarettes and tobacco in general, but in America we have to be nice about everything and pussyfoot around the truth so we don't accidentally offend someone who would be bothered by looking at the kind of pictures or the straight-to-the-facts statements included on Canadian and European cigarette packages. That, and tobacco companies here reign supreme. We're a generally pathetic nation.
haha!! brillient!! :D
Poor lonely chair....he thought fire would end the suffering ):
