I love the angle of the shot. Feels all twisty.
i think those arent bricks... i dont know the name in english but in portuguese are called "azulejos" or "mosaicos" maybe the translation is mosaic .
Shiny-type bricks! Whee.
What IS the name for those high-glaze bricks? They aren't really "tile." Dunno . . . .
Wow, too bad such beauty is wasting away!
I think they might be just tile and grout, no? Like subway tile?

Dang Lynnie now you made me all twisty.....
Seen in lots of institutions for ward and run areas. Tough low maintenance stuff. Concrete masonry type with a baked-on acrylic coating is usually referred to as "glazed block." Another kind is a kiln-fired ceramic finish usually referred to as "structural glazed tile." Guts and blood wipe right off.
Good grief. :-(
Motts, how did you get the lighting at the stairs? It almost looks like bracked&blend but I believe you said on the forum that you didn't use that technique.
I mentioned I don't use HDR, a program that blends the shots together for you.
But suddenly the yellow brick road turned and twisted. Forced to walk up the wall, to stay on and follow it, Dorothy and company knew their trip had now taken a bizarre turn of events...
Lovely stairway shot; almost looks new.
Good ol Glazed Brick... This stuff will outlast anything and still look good...
this area looks almost brand new!
Why is there brick shiny tile halfway up the wall going up the stairs? And the wall...?
For dirty handprints - makes it easier to clean.
That makes sense, thanks Lynne. =)

You are SO my idol.
Some schools do this for ease of cleaning as well. Imagine hundreds of grimey childrens hands touching a regular wall every day! The horror of the clean up! My Dad is the head of maintenance at a school system and this is always a problem at the elementary school. They repaint over Christmas break and over Summer break.
Sam - Ack! Feet of clay! Feet of clay! =8-o
Every time i see it, i love your work more and more.
those shiny bricks really detract from the beauty of those stairs
...something "hopeful" about this shot...
this takes me back to that cut class spot in jr high
could this be that illusuve stairway to HEAVEN
Love the gleam off the glazed blocks and the angle!
it's mentel. a real person. a prison'ers life? im like her, if she touch'ez him again. oh dont try; if you know me. it is stated, are you? are you truly looking at me? one up and shes' on it, the .A>C>F what's a foot or a sock got to do with love?
they R 'tiles' on the wall and bricks , but the angle makes them look lke bricks =]
awesomeness =D
They are glazed wall tiles!! LOL! oh and this pic is weird as it looks quite clean!!
haha it reminds me of the Department of Mysteries in the Ministry of Magic :)
They aint tiles - they are bricks - I went to the site when it was being demolished . you walked to the bottom of a stairwell like this one and there was a mountain of those bricks and rubble - . loads of new houses being built there now , in " victorian style " . But there are 2 blocks still standing that " may" be left and converted
Wow my school was like that, not just up the stairs, all round the school
Wow my school was like that, not just up the stairs, all round the school
Sorry :) don't know how that happen
Aw no,they ripped it down? I was really hoping to go since it's not too far from me.
