The chair is relaxing and watching the paint peel away like a wide screen tv that keeps getting bigger and bigger.

The best peeling paint I've ever seen! I couldn't figure out the chair, but now I think it's like blinders on a horse: you sit back and feel rather sheltered from the action/chaos around you. Your vision is limited, giving you a feeling of privacy. You're there in public, yet few people could actually see you. I like that idea!

I just thought of something else. If that top part had a built-in reading light, it'd be a nice way to read in privacy. Your chair would also be a lamp! A positive version of an "electric chair"!

That's a pretty rudimentary wing chair...it does look alien-like.

The wings were intended to protect the occupant from drafts. As houses became warmer and tighter they slowly shrank, like the fins on a Cadillac.

For some reason this chair looks to me like it belongs in Invader Zim. What's on the walls off to the sides of the peeling paint? Looks like sconces to me.

Ugliest wing chair ever! And I'm an upholsterer, I've seen plenty! (sometimes i get the overwhelming feeling of wanting to "rescue" the furniture in the pictures).

Why is this place in such poor condition but here and there are these chairs, clean and in pretty good condition? Weird, huh? Kinda Creepy, wouldn't you say?

This is THE strangest chair I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of chairs in my days. Could you imagine if it wasn't a wingback , and that section stuck out like that all the way across the top? LOL You'd be sitting with your head almost between your knees! Delightfully creepy!

My local hospital has chairs exactly like this in every cubicle, and pretty much every home for OAPs (at least that I've visited, and that's been a few) has dozens of them in the common rooms. I used to sit in one when I was in hospital last year and it made me feel like my grandmother!

Us Brits like to sit and sup our tea from a thermos flask while we work ........it`s the same for vandals .....they do a bit of wrecking and then sit and drink their tea

My grandparents used to have a chair that was VERY much like this one. We always fought over who got the comfy chair when we went over there. Theirs was baby blue though, not puke green. But, they are very comfortable if I recall correctly from my youth.
