Another smashing black and white photo.
That's about the most hope draining shot I've ever seen
I concur. I feel ten times worse than I did a few seconds ago (which is pretty bad considering I had to work today). But my mother would love that crate. She steals the milk crates from convenience stores. And that's an uber crate.

Probably the best black and white interior shot I've ever seen.
It got out.
The crate got out? Unca Ton, you been drinking 4 year old beer again?
Almost looks like a fire ravaged that place a bit, or looks like something you might see in a war zone.

Beautiful shot, nonetheless.
How cold and desolate...
MAJOR SUNROOF.
For a second I thought the crate was a crib, then a cage. Then I actually read the caption.

Cool shot.
It makes you wonder what was in it.
A rabid dog would look great in that broken crate.
i love when it's desolate

great shot ^^
Of course such asylums were not nearly as grim when in operation. In fact, they had many advantages over modern mental hospitals.
does the crate put a disturbing image of a baby's playpen into anyone's mind...? or is is just me?
that really doesnt look like a crate if u look close enough it looks like an oldfashion playpen for a baby!
Love those B&W photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with AidenB, my first thought was that looks like a playpen. I definitely would of believed that is a jagged nursery picture.
Love the decay, very cool B&W shot.
this reminds me of the film 'return to oz'
That crate is (or was) actually a baby cot
No, the crate was a laundry basket, there are many around the asylum.
The crate is a crib. Really - it was on 3 other websites...
Doesn't mean they're right... unless there's a historical photo of one of these floating around somewhere?

I believe it's a laundry basket as well. Considering the heavy (and not child-friendly) construction, the large industrial caster wheels on the bottom, and it's location in an adult psychiatric hospital... I can't imagine what else it would be.
But doesn´t it give such wonderful creepy thrills to just think and demand on it being a crib ;) ? I mean thats what this page is - amongst many other things - about. Fantasy. Morbid Fantasy.
And by the way, I too believe it´s a crate. How boring ^^
