This picture is so good, I could almost smell the mold and dampness.
I see bricks. :D Interesting line on the ceiling.
I love the line of decay on the ceiling.
Must have been a pretty bad train ride, to welcome the odor of mold, eh, Motts?
I think I asked you this before, Motts. Do you suffer from allergies? If not, you're VERY fortunate!
just imagine all the poor souls who abandoned hope going through this hallway
oh wow i love the diffrent colors of the mold and moss
what is that on the right side of the picture that runs from the back to the front??? Is it a railing? That's a pretty run-down hospital!
I like how the caved in/gone section of the roof matches the hue of the floor, sort of. in my eyes it does.

Cool shot.

Someone should start a UE Purfume/Deodorant line. Wouldn't that be wonderful, eh?
Beautiful colours!
Your Pics are awesome...so surreal... Absolutely breathtaking..Motts, you have a great talent..I am addicted to your site...
This is absolutely beautiful. The ceiling...was that an exclusive feature of THIS particular asylum, did you find, Motts, or did many of the ceilings have that curve or arch to them? It definatly seems different than the American ones, so far! Beautiful.
Many of the english asylums has these hexagon shaped connecting hallways... some were nicely arched as well.
amazing, like puddleboy said, you can smell the mold and the dampness. I love the half decayed cieling. Nice shot.
joe, I would imagine they had abandoned hope long before they got here. They were, after all, suffering from a largely incurable illness.
thank you so much for the beautiful pics.ive always been facsinated with urban decay and the like.i was googling for abandoned hospitals in my home state of missouri and ran across your site and ive been hooked ever since.you have a wonderful talent, thank you so much for preserving these wonderful places with your pictures.you have a great talent. Cindy
It's really amazing how many abandonements are in every single state and scattered all over. It still puzzles me why this is so common. Why simply walk away from any building and just let it sit there and rot? I don't understand it. I've seen pictures of places where they've left their furniture and even some personal belongings. Not only large buildings, like Motts usually shows but alot of small residences, as well. I just don't understand it. Doesn't someone OWN the property? Why is it just left to ruin?
I like how the left side of the picture contrasts from the right
wow, the smell and the damp just fills my head completely... amazing shot
nice brick like tiles ....exposed by the rain thru the roof ........hidden by plaster when they tried to mask the Victorian image of the hospital....I`m sitting less than a mile from it and know it quite well..lol
i have lods and lods of video's of this place with scens like that
i have been in this beautiful building and mott has captured what you see so well it so sad how the building was left to get like this and the grounds where such a beautiful place and very peaceful
Good they are demolishing the shack.
Interesting photo Motts, I also think of all the workers and patients that went down these same halls all those years it was in operation. Who would've thought that at that time all the yrs later it would 'look' like it does now. I'm sure none of them thought it would ever close down....but things change. I'd say some patients had mental/health issues but maybe didn't need to be locked up. They didn't have the advancements in medicine that we do now. I'm not saying some didn't need to be there just maybe not as many needed to be just locked up and throw away the key sort of mentality. Its kinda a shame in some ways. Some patients could've and should've gotten much better treatment than they did. I feel really bad for those patients that were abused. Esp from a health care system that well is suppose to 'help'. Unfortunately , it happens all of the time....and still to this day. How sad really. How sad.......
If I smell that I'm gonna be sick
