Folded

An examination table was folded up in a corner with a puzzle half-assembled on top.

... a puzzle...?

That's... disgusting. I can't think of me playing merry on an EXAMINATION TABLE! Woah, very odd...
Ahem. It is quite possible that someone was moving items around and set that puzzle down on the table and left it. For art therapy we very rarely ask our folks to assemble puzzles on old folded up examination tables, especially if they use wheelcahirs and can't quite get their chair positioned under the table . . . . .
What I find odd is assuming that everything is exactly in the same place and condition as it was when the area was in use.
But its kind of hard to move a puzzle from one table to another without it completely falling apart. So I assume some reconstructive work had to be done on the puzzle when it was on the examination table otherwise it wouldn't be anywhere close to half complete.
So did you finish it?
When Lynne says, "Ahem", be prepared!!
looking at the shape of the puzzle, it looks like a ma of the US

probably belonged to one of the kids who was there
.......yea but who put it together? It couldn't have been a kid from back then could it?
Were there chairs nearby?
So the puzzle people could sit?
IT LOOKS LIKE A FOLDABLE MORGUE TABLE.
Dr. "Ok Jimmy get up on the table."
Jimmy "Ok"
Dr. "This won't hurt a bit"
Pulls out some drill thing.
Bizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzinnggggggg.
HEY I SEE TEXAS!
you know ifind this pretty wierd man, that is the most deep one yet....
Agreed. A puzzle on an examination table. Sometimes, the patient can be a complicated puzzle to the doctor. Pieces are missing, the picture is unlear. Despite the dictors best efforts, he cannot help the patient, and he gives up, folding the examination table. Years later, the patient remains, still broken, waiting for someone to make him whole again.
Isn't anyone gonna finish it?
chippy thats really deep its almost as deep as a quote at the zoo in my town (by the way its the oldest zoo in the southern U.S.A thought i had to add that) it says "When one species passes before that species can be restored one earth heaven and universe must pass" i cant remember who said it though. anybody notice what looks like blood in that tray?
no andy im afraid no one ever will
Keep in mind that other people besides Motts may have entered the building. Meaning, they may have moved around certain items (such as the puzzle) and we just assume that those items were left in those exact spots by the employees or patients of that particular era.
I was just thinking of the movers waiting for a truck or something, got bored and messed around with a puzzle untill it came.
nobody will ever know, and i like it that way.
have a seat...Lay down... Let me shock you.....
you are blowing my mind.

i was just thinking that it looked like blood in the tray

Interesting place to find a puzzle!
