Perambulation

Perambulation

Walking through a graveyard of small wheelchairs and strollers was a bit unnerving and eerie...

I called in sick today, and there are new pictures. The head feels a little better.
I came close myself. Came in late because I was trying to get through these but had to stop after the first set. Now I am at work. I have to work an hour later so I can look at these without guilt. :-)
yay WHEEL CHAIRS!!!!!
that is pretty cool looking. but creepy all at the same time ( yeah new pics!!!)
finaly new ones!
creepy creepy creepy
oooh, wheelchair graveyard!
Of all the pics i've seen its the wheelchair ones that get to me the most.
It must be something to do with the helplessness of them, this picture is fantastic.
There was a book written about the children they tested on , mostly boys . They call themselves the state boys. Many were not developmentally disabled , but just hard to handle or had behavior problems or considered delinquent so they were put into the the homes. Some became what is called insitutionally retarded.
I just recently located this site and have thoroughly enjoyed the creativity that is put into each photograph. Excellent work, wish I could join you on some of these jaunts. ;-)
Interesting photo. Makes me wonder who was the last occupant of that chair.. very sad :(
What a delightful way to end a terrible day... coming home to finally check back in with Mr Motts' website...
I just cant get enough of these pictures. I think i will quit my job and sit at the computer all day till they turn the power off.

:-p
People.... it's just a website! it's just pictures! Stop bowing before it, it's getting annoying.
So . . . I am guessing you might not appreciate this?

Hmm ... it's not just a website, though; at least not to us. Trying to preach the errors of our ways won't do much, so why bother? Nevermind, don't answer that. It'll just get ugly and nobody wants to see that. Sooo ... enjoy the pics and don't read the comments, it's not that difficult to do.
dude get over it okay if you dont think as highly of it as us then whatever but dont tell us that its wrong and i aggree with serrena enjoy it to your extent and so will we but dont preach about it to us!!
I checked out this site about a week ago and can't stop from coming back to look at more! So I have to agree it is pretty amazing.
What is wrong with complementing an artist on their work, sounds like a certain guy has a hair that needs to be clipped from a certain place.
Does he remind you of anyone??? "It's just a dead bird... Get over it!" Oh Thomas Covenant, how we miss you some days!
Dr. Sketch, lol!.
Isn't it amazing how many people have posted a comment that has absolutely no important info. whatsoever? It's just a bunch of rambling and silly comments. I know my comment has no significance either, but it does become annoying when people think this website is for silly jokes and useless information.
I for one, apologize for all my useless and silly remarks on here, InSearch is right about that.
On the other hand, do you really think ALL of your posts are edifying and stick to the subject at hand? or are useful somehow? Your sparkling commentary on the picture of the plastic chairs is just one example.
Like I said, I know I have been an offender, and will knock it off, but people who live in glass houses etc etc....
I'd like to fill the world with silly comments...

What's wrong with... that I'd like to know
This photo makes me wonder about who had to use this "perambulator". It also is kind of comforting to think that maybe this chair enabled someone to have a bit of some kind of a life that they couldn't of had laying in bed all day.

More quotes in relation to the comments above:

"Humor may be defined as the kindly contemplation of the incongruities of life, and the artistic expression thereof."
-Stephen Leacock

"Humor is perhaps a sense of intellectual perspective: an awareness that some things are really important, others not; and that the two kinds are most oddly jumbled in everyday affairs."
-Christopher Morley, Inward Ho

"Hazing is an extraordinary activity that, when it occurs often enough, becomes perversely ordinary as those who engage in it grow desensitized to its inhumanity."
-Hank Nuwer, Wrongs of Passage
Ive heard the whole history on this school when i was in middle school! Its creepy and very wrong!
Some people just don't appreciate art.
HAIL MOTTS..... And ROCK ON Lynne.

And for someguy 6/25/06.... If it's "just pictures" & "just a website" then why are you here. Why waste your precious time reading all of our comments? Maybe your time would be better spent doing something else... somewhere else....:)
that's creepy
I've been on your site a ton and never came across this gallery until just now. This particular school is my absolute favorite (well, maybe not fqavorite, but it's the one that intrigues me the most), and I'm thrilled that I found these photos. I've been on the school campus and have been dying to know what's inside the abandoned buildings, and now, thanks to you, I finally do. So thank you.
what state is this in?
i am looking for interesting places in my state, and we have a margate here, but i can't find info on this school anywhere....and i've searched high and low.
Your intro to this gallery really made me stop and think..........thank you for providing us with the history on the buildings you tour and shoot!
lynne, that was tooooo good on the hail motts thing. i couldnt stop laughing ^^ u made my day sooo much better ^^
I'm a full-time wheelchair user. Wheelchair technology has progressed a lot since this school was open. I'm sure they didn't have electric wheelchairs then.
Great pictures. Snow day here
