LOOKS LIKE GIZMOS FROM THE 50's
have the ugre to pull any of these, Motts?
Maybe the right combination or position opens a hidden door. lol
...or opens up a trap door tht shoots you into the basement (LOL)
They are autotransformer dimmers for the lighting equipment= probaly WardLeondard or old Century Strand. The colors of the handles probaly indicate which colored circuits of a strip of lights over the stage they controlled. I began my theatre career using a similar dimming system- Now I make lots of money repairing and replacing these.
your on in 5 minutes Mr. Sinatra
Motts, I bet you could sell this one to Autechre or Solvent or Radian (or some similar band) for one of their CD covers!
Amazing shot! :)
good one isabeats, and he (or she) probably could. P.S. im new my names jayson
Welcome, Jayson. If you join the Forum, I started a music thread there. I'd like to find out if you like those 3 bands. At this point, I've only met 1 person into this kind of music!
it looks old except for the red and blue switches! kinda cool.
And I thought my school's 1980-something Jands lighting system was ancient...
haha if I had to use this instead of my schools ETC board I would cry

its amazing that you could do anything with those ancient controls though
I've used one of these light boards before--they're incredible. 34,000 watts per dimmer
They used even older ones at the middle school I went to . They dated to the 1930s and still were completely functional.
Seeing bad visions of even worse hokey sci-fi movies/shows; all thats missing is a sticker "DO NOT PUSH the red button" or in this case flick the switch in the upper right corner.
This is a neat photo. There were (and probably still are) literally thousands of these dimmerboards, in various different configurations, installed in schools, churches, and theaters. They're darn near bulletproof. This photo revives lots of memories for me. Thanks for posting it!
