totally beautiful !
Great shot Motts, and I love your choice of titles for it!
ohhh, this is my favorite one motts, I am so glad to have found your site so that I can look at these great pictures, and try to imagine what used to be! (sigh) :-)
Considering the harsh New England weather. This building has held up quite well. That cieling is in great shape, it should have fallen already. Nice architecture...
Love this room! It's a shame that places like this stands unused...
I'm with Bill, this place seems to have done remarkably well. I'm of the mind that although it was last used almost 30 years ago that it must have gotten maintained afterwards for several years.
It is amazing all of the thought and design that went into these buildings. Even knowing these places were mainly used to hide the mentally disturbed. Now these wonderful specimens of Architecture sit waiting to fade away... Once again, great shot Mr. Motts.
Wonderful! Thank you again for sharing Mr Motts! :-)
this is a neat room :o)
love the ceiling!
I would love to sing in there! :0)
Shall we dance.
This room is awesome -- windows on both sides -- could be used as a roller rink. Great picture!!
gymnasium? aren't you terrified of falling through one of these floors? where can i read about your near misses?
Cool room. Reminds me of an airplane hangar for the curve of the ceiling.
it looks like these floors are tile, so youd be less likely to fall through, i think. this is a beatiful room. im surprised the color has lasted so long. well done
these builings are quietly beautiful. but tho empty, something is still there. whether its the total absence of sound or abandonment, the neglect, or rememberances of who used to be her I find it beautiful but eerie and slightly unsettling. Excellent photos though.
Anybody know what kind of room this was??
looks like an activity room.....note the fade of pastel colors on the cieling ....awesome shot! I can almost see images of dancing ppl for some reason...odd....but then again Im sensitive like that......still a great shot....
Your artwork is amazing...as I sit on the verge of tears of joy!
Dodgeball anyone?
Hhmmm, it looks like a ballroom. . .highly unlikely but still. . .I agree it was probably an activities room of some sort.
I love it what a beautiful room
This room crushes the human spirit.

Use it for a archery hall.
I am an archer myself, the hall that we use in New Zealand is almost identical to this one, how funny you would say that as I was thinking the same thing!!! Great minds think alike I say.
Reminds me of the abandoned Ballroom at Flinders St Station in Melbourne, Australia
