Hall

This one building was really vast and beautiful, it looked like an assembly hall but I believe it was used for storage. Both walls were dotted with platforms that jutted out in intervals and a trench ran through the center that used to have railroad tracks, enabling the cars to roll through to pick up or drop off material.

Yes, I'm a relic trapped in the wire.
Oh industry, whatever will become of me?"
Impressive, this hall is larger than a lot of factories.
I love this picture. I can almost hear the trains too........ And those balconies are the coolest!
It reminds me of.....something...never mind
Wow, the different depths are really amazing!
I like the general muted quality of the image and then the fact that certain colors pop out. The lighting is superb.
isn't there a scene in Star Wars that looks something like this?
All right, I'm sorry to bring the quality of the whole conversation down, but...it reminds me of a Donkey Kong level. Or Donkey Kong Country. The industrial part.
I absolutely love this shot. It reminds me of downtown brooklyn when i was a kid (and thats a long time ago !!! lol)
What a majestic old structure...too bad it is slated for destruction. I've enjoyed touring your gallery...so much to see.
it reminds me of a cathedral. stained glass. *points*
to me, it's futuristic, like star wars...
those tunnels on the deathstar that served no purpose except a place to have space dogfights...
The studbaker plant was very beautiful. They tore it down about 6 or 7 years ago. it was hideous on the outside but man makes me wish I had seen the inside. real pleasure to see a town Im from on here.
Motts--
this would make a fantastic screensaver!
I looked this up in the South Bend center for history. It was a loading and recieving dock from the railroad. Each platform on levels 1-4 were different stages on the assembly line. If you look close enough there is a boom crane to haul matrerials to each level. The plant was verticle in size for the lack of real estate so materials were shipped "just in time" for the line.
