Secure Bathroom

Secure Bathroom

Not much different in here other than the reinforced window. I would assume a tub or shower fixture was where the hole is in the ground.

Knowing me...I would've fallen through the hole! LoL!
Not if I saw it first. I'm the biggest klutz in the world. Obviously a very damp place...there's moss growing in a lot of the rooms.
Yeah it's right alongside a river so the dampness stays in the building... the tunnels are a gooey, mushy mess of asbestos (at least it's wet and not too airborne!)
Looks more like they never used the toilets. The floor turned ~green~
I'm sorry, is it moss, or mold? PB *sigh* I love ya, but sometimes I worry about you.
Throughout this entire gallery, I wrote the first thing that popped into my head. LOL
I really like the way the moss is growing out of the fixtures into the empty part of the room.
Lovely to see how nature slowly but surely reclaims these old places which were once taken from it.
I LOVE THOSE OLD HEXAGONAL TILES ON THE FLOOR, I THINK THEY ARE VERY CLASSY!
Java, I wouldn't have noticed the tiles for the moss! I think I'm gonna call a landscaper to do a peet moss job on my bathroom so I can feel like I'm taking a leak in the woods!
These images are beautifully eerie. You are such a talented photographer. I would love to see more information on the camera settings you used.
Best wishes on a wonderful new year from Austin, Texas.
LOVE this shot!

Oh yes, and Happy New Year to you all, from Alberta, Canada. Thanks for the reminder Pamela!
the strangest thing about this shot to my mind is the fact that the urinal appears to have a kneeler in front of it... much like the ones you see in front of the little religious shrines in Catholic Churches! Gives new meaning to "bowing before the porcelain god".
Asbestos carpeting, lovely. No soap dispenser?
Someone prolly stole it for a souvenir, awyper!
love the old watersaver toilets, the one in the back corner has the same appearence as toilets (1.6) sold today. What a flush that must have given, dont loose your seat!
Now that's quality! Today's urinal is about 1/5th that size! Can't miss with this one, even after 10 beers
wow lysol should use that bathroom in there commericals..then i would belive that 99.9% of germs claim they seem to make in all their ad's
What appalls me most about this room is the lack of privacy! Sometimes stalls are not enough for me, can you imagine somone sitting there right next to you sharing the TP?
Motts?
Is that an Industrial Utility tub I spot lurking off to the right?
In the female bath, we did have privacy, however, the doors to the toilet stalls did not have any handles, and the shower stalls only had plastic shower curtains. I always was unfortunate to get the shower with the cold water and no soap in the despenser. Why? because the others always beat me to the good showers. At least with my cold water shower, I was more "bright-eyed-bushy-tailed, then the others!! <laughter>
Oh, of course without soap, i would have to douse myself with as much anti-persperiant to make me smell good!!
i would really like to talk to deafangel we have something in common i was in the kettle building ever hear of it
I have photos of Kettle, just need to put them up at some point...
Em, there's no time like right now. ;-)
As for the secure bathroom. were it not secured people would escape. At Danvers we had two gys rip a fan that was installed in the bathroom window, out of the wall and escape theough the hole. Can't be too careful.
I've always known that men's rooms are not as clean as the lady's room.
Wow... They really need to strip off the peeling paint...
I think the hole in the floor might have been used as a drain for when they would mop the floors down the water would go to the llow point there
I don't want to think what the moss is feeding on so close to the urinals. But the moss seems so green and lush.............
nice. you can see the guy you're crapping with.
can you feel the mossy squish between your toes?
Looked like a nice bathroom once.
...octagonal tiles-in TWO colors!!
I live in Preston and have only read and heard about this place. This town is NOT handling the property correctly in my opinion. Some of the buildings, architecture and interiors should be preserved and shared for people who find photograpy and psychaitric history interesting. I am highly educated in the medical field and in psychology and am frankly, embarrassed by the handling of this property by the town selectmen. This property- I get it- is contaminated and people should not just be allowed to roam free but if they would let people in to photograph the buildings and build some press & interest around the property then maybe they could sell it. These are historic buildings and should not be torn down.
Gotta love the walk-in-urinal
That is an ENORMOUS urinal. I think you'd have to be lying down to miss that sucker, no matter how bad your aim.
The genuine moss flooring, so green & lush. leads you past the wonderful walk-in-urinal to the twin privies.....overlooking the chain linked view....Charmin, Kohler & American Standard, eat your heart out---.this is a loo to die for....
