Employee Room

Employee Room

The building was pretty small and cramped. After a few hours of walking around this place, we both agreed to end out trip.

great shot...spooky yet alluring
Looks like fucking slave quarters!
Or a jail cell.
This whole place looks fairly "insitutional" for a resort and hotel. I wonder what the plan was for that, or did all the resorts look like this back then?
I'm guessing the employees stayed for free? Does anyone know?
most of the time employees who 'Stay" at resorts get a raw deal... not obviously raw, until a few months go by.... and they calculate sans inflated hiring quoted average gratuities, the truth... hey! I'm not makin anything! *&$%!
great shots.. do you know if this place has been demolished, or is it still around? thanks! =)
yes they stayed for free and were allowed to use all hotel accomidations where is this the ritz? or the holiday or fiesta?
verry old
I work at the pines back in the 80s. I Had lots of dates. I did not get a raw deal. STEVE AND JERRY TREATED ME VERY WELL INCLUDING MANY FEMALE GUEST!!
OH, it looked NOTHING like that when we lived there. It was a virtual palace. There was no ice in the toilet bowls, no cockroaches. Really, I swear! And how did that beer bottle get there? What a shame, what happened to the place. To just let it all go to the crapper like that.
Hey T i hope you ar kidding!!!
Like ,where is the mattress?
Now that would be an uncomfortable bed to sleep in.
To quote Cliff Ehrlich "It's better than sleeping outside"
It wasn''t no Hilton, but in its day, it was the bomb. Working there in the late 70's was a hoot; like going to summer camp , except we got paid and could fuck as many female guests as we wanted to. The accomdations were prison like (and sometimes dangerous), but the guests didn't seem to mind...all they wanted was penis. All in all, a great time!
Well, from your self-presentation it was obvious they weren't after brains or class. Sounds like everyone left with what they wanted.
AWWWW guy's jus' wanna have fun!
C'mon Lynn....move a couple of letters around the board and its the Penis Hotel, not the Pines. Talk about subliminal messaging.
It was like shooting ducks in a barrel.
A guarenteed sure thing, no doubt about it, your getting laid tonight or my name ain't Elmer Fudd win-win type of situation.
That was my point - everyone got what they wanted out of the situation.
Lynne, How come people can't remember your "E" ?
I love it!!!! Penis Hotel!!
Sadly, It's all too true Lynne. I was there. There was an aging old housewife willing to sleep with every bellhop or waiter that was willing to do the job. A little cocaine didn't hurt their chances any either.
I guess I was young and naive when I worked there from the fall of 1980 to around Dec of 1981. While I did learn alot about life in general, I never realized the extent of the "fringe benefits" enjoyed by some of the staff. On a side note - this looks like the center room of possibly the 3rd or 2nd floor in the Ritz. I spent a few months living in the center room on the 3rd floor. While there wasn't ice in the toilet bowl, I do remember using a blow dryer for heat in the winter, when the heating system broke down (not an unusual occurrence either!!)
Long Live The Penis, er The Pines!! Thanks guys for a huge laugh.
This is my all-time favorite place you've visited. No clue why, though. Wow, that was incredibly uninformative.
Yes, well we aim to please. And thanks to Tom Tom for all the chuckles! How could his "female guests" go wrong!!
This is definitely one of my favorite galeries now =]
Danvers is still numero uno though!
There nearest sort of place to this I've stayed at was in the Highlands Of Scotland.

I went on a coach tour & were the only couple under 50, but we didn't really mind.

One highligh was a train journey from Fort William to the small fishing port of Maliag.
When we got there we went into a cafe & were surprised to notice at the next table were 2 women chatting loudly in New York accents. We didn't speak to them but they might have come to a place like this at one time in the past.
This is part of the employee quarters, but when I was there (94 to 96) working in the camp, we lived across the street in condemned buildings called the shacks.
i worked at the pines as a waiter from '78-'84,aqnd this definite3ly lookslike my oldroom on the 4th floorof the ritz. it didn't look this bad back then. it was actually pretty nice. staff didn't stay free, but they only took out about $5 a day for room and board. use of the hotel amenities was usually allowed. the money was really good working in the dining room, so there was definitely alot of major partying going on.with the chalet only 1/2mile away in the summer, life was grand.....
Those red curtains give me the hee - bee / gee - bee's.

My father worked as a bar hop in the 60's mostly during the summers. He said it was good money for a side job. The Jewish ladies loved to tip him big. My sister and I were friends with the Ehrlich children in the late 60's and early 70's. They lived in a house next door and the hotel was our playground. We skated in the rink, swam in the pools, played in the game rooms and had glorious dinners and birthday parties in the sumptious dining room. It was a paradise. I'm so sorry to see it has become yet another abandoned resort. If only it could have held out longer for a rebirth and a renaissance. The photos are absolutely haunting.
my sister and I walked around the grounds and in many of the buildings about ten days ago. The former owner lives in the house next door, and allowed us to enter the grounds from his property Its much the same as in the pictures. We had the feeling we were not alone, there might be some homeless people living there.
I just want to clarify: the previous owner did not give us permission to explore the Pines.....he allowed us to walk in his yard and enter the property. He made it clear that as former owner, he didn't have the right to ALLOW us or anyone to walk around the property.
Well, this seems to be the place everyone
knows/everyone goes.
This room resembles some of the asylum rooms seen on the site. I love the square of shag carpeting. That adds a real touch of class......
The rooms were fine, everybody was young and excited to be there for the Sumer... musicians slept better but the social scene was fantastic !! Yet,,, in those days, nobody got kidnapped, girls hitch hiked, no was "kind of " no, but still rarely heard... it was pretty clean fun with lots of hanky panky. Those days, with some measure of innocence, are sadly gone.
one of my fav. galleries
I love this gallery! I spent several hours reading all of the comments and looking at the pictures. It sounds like there were some really wonderful summers spent here! Thank you all for sharing your stories of actually being here..would love to hear more.
Hey JJ, I'm sure TOM TOM could tell you if he stayed for free, and I'm sure he brought a female guest, or two with him....lol Just kidding TOM TOM, no hard feelings.
Daniel, you a nut! lol
Daniel if you lay on THAT, your back won't just BEGIN to hurt ........you'll probably seriously damage it cos you'll have fallen through the rust straight onto the floor. ouch. So dont do it...;)
it reminds me of the Orphan...a very scary movie...She bust ber own arm! i am pechish again....but i have lost my apitite...from a shortly shown photograph of room were it looks like the carpet is a live...i would never step foot on it!!!
have a fantastic day everyone i am going to school around the corner but on my way i will stop for some tea at the cornner shop! mum gave me 1 pond maybe thats enough,,,usally she does the shoping..so i have no clue!!!
This was a really interesting gallery as far as what was left there, very strange. Everyone just left like they were coming back the next summer. Odd. Anyway, I really enjoyed reading about everyone's experiences here. In a way, it is really depressing, all these memories just left to rot away. It's the first time so many people who had been to a location were 'chatting' and sharing on your site. Thanks everyone for sharing with all of us!
Memories of what was. Thank you 4 an incredible site.., and peoples, thanx 4 the chuckels and the friendships. Hank, Eve, Rob, & even U Newman.., THANX111
THIS WAS A GOOD PLACE I WORK HERE FOR 15 YEARS AND LOVE EVER MIN OF IT AND MISS IT WISH IT WAS STILL OPEN
IT ANYONE FROM THE 80 REMMBER JOHN DAVEY EMAIL ME AT JOHN@BABACO.COM LOVE TO HERE FROM YOU
Some of my favorite memories are here. Late 60's early 70's.
Lynda Carter started here with a group know as "Speedy Garfin, and Garfin's Gathering" That was the year she won Miss America .

I'm still friendly with some of the old athletic staff. "Can never go back, but if I could"
dam where did tom go again ???????? and lynne seems pretty cool to :)
My Dad ran the ice rink. So this place was a job( athletic staff, life guard, golf course and of course the skating rink) as well as a place to hang out. there were lots of good times. Any of you ex employees remember Joe Black; the guy who taught " the hully gully and various novelty dances"?
Did you try to set off a fire sprinkler ? SInce the building is abandoned and self-destructs itself, you can do it. Also, did you find the sprinkler valves room ?
Was at the pines this weekend they are now in the process of demoing it.. they already took down what looks like 3-4 of the buildings.. And one of the buildings in front the roof fell through the middle all the way to the first floor.. its a shame whats become of it and what vandals have done to it..
i been up for like 6 hours on this one site looking at all these historic buildings and ive been reading bout the pines for like a hour now i see that TOM TOM and T was big players up in there this website is so fucking amazing im just enjoying seeing all these abandoned buildings across the world and reading everybodies stories this site is damn near like facebook bringing old friends and new ones together....AMAZING WEBSITE
Like many others, I've spent hours now looking at these photos and reading all of the comments.
Some of the comments brought tears to my eyes.. Seeing how many memories were here and how it was a few years ago..now learning it's being demolished.. So sad.

Thanks to everyone posting their memories and stories, it really made these pictures come to life.
