It seems to be another split door...there looks to be a lock of some sort near the door hinge. A drug dispencery?
Most of the Doors to the Med rooms had Split doors to open the top half and keep the bottom half closed while giving out meds. But no one ever did that. I worked in Bld 22 (Admissions) Ward 227 was the worst unit.. It was the One where the prissioners from the jail were kept and Prison staff were kept on unit. Unit 225 Was nicked named "The Zoo" It was patients from Islip east end, huntington, Depending what town you lived in determined what unit you were put on...... Let me tell you this JOB SUCKED!!! We got hazardious duty pay for working in building 22.. Oh and all doors opened with one skeleton key that all staff had on them to get from place to place.
Wow, Nurse that worked here! Very cool info. What els can you tell us? Was Bld 22 the one that had the courtyard incloser built inthe 80's for a word of younger Psyc patiants?

I bet you have alot of stories!
=D
my mother worked here in the 80's and i showed her these pic's and it fasinates her to see the condition its in now. I will tell her to chime in with some stories. She also worked in Pilgram. I remeber as a young lad (now 31) my mother bought me to work with her and i was outside, ill never forget this for the rest of my life, i wondered off and a patient had a shopping cart and rammed it to me against a rotten tree. broke my rib.
