Scale

Scale

This blurry faced person helps show how massive this place really is!
Taken from down in "the pit", in front of what I assume to be a boiler, which sits underneath a turbine.

Holy cow!
Hey! Hey! I think I reck-a-nize that guy! Geez, he does look purty small, huh?
That's impossible, his face is blurred out... :)
Massive there are no other words.
Holeeeeee mamma! Now I am beginning to understand the massive size of these things. Oh yeah Motts you can't hide behind a measly blur! Look at those familiar Popeye arm "muskles"!
Oh. Well, never mind my previous question about scale! Wow!
Wouldn't it be fun to play Hide and Seek there?
It would be more like Hide and Never Find (or get lost)...this place is HUGE!
I'm still not allowed to comment on how big anything is. :-(
Iv'e always wondered what those little doors are for. I think thats where the pilot flames are located
Reminds me of the turbines/engines on the titanic..
That's like the photo of the shipbuilders standing next to the giant propellor screws from Titanic!

This photo makes those boilers look....elegant in design.
That is a big assed boiler!!!!
DAMN!!!!! That is stunning!
There have no doubt that its a big size multi-pass surface condenser with 20 nos. of man-holes for tube inspection, but no scaling could be observed through the opened man-hole of this photograph.
Wow its extremely huge compared to the person in the photo.
If this was a film I'd expect a giant hand to burst out and grab 'super blurry faced guy'. Looks like a cage for a gaint creature to me...
Amazing stuff. I worked for a few months at a power station once and the noise once you got down to these deep sections of the station was absolutely deafening, even wearing ear-protectors and all. It must be quite something to be there when the place is absolutely silent like this.
hmmm, i wonder who that blur faced person with a hawk like hair cut and slevless shirt could be...
Hey What is that bluish thing towards the top-right of the boiler/condenser that blurry face guy seems to be looking at????

I also love the shot of the roof trusses..great photo.
It looks like a piece of duct tape that fell off something and caught the cap so it's just hanging there.
Kinda looks like an industrial toilet seat cover.
Thats Not a boiler, its a condenser. It converts the exhaust steam in the turbine back to water to be boiled again. Those manholes are for workers to go in when sticks and debris plug the cooling water tubes inside.
Looks like a massive dorrway to the coal soaked burned up Flame flilled UNDERWorld

Open Sesameee
Turbine condenser
